Why would be the most likely outcome of the ribosomes of a cell were damaged and stopped functioning

If the ribosomes were damaged and stopped functioning, the cell would likely die because it constantly needs to replenish its proteins including enzymes as well as ribosomal proteins to make more ribosomes!
