False. What actually determines the properties of elements are the electrons, or aka valence electrons. They are used to bond, which determines its properties.

A ball has a diameter of 3.77 cm and average density of 0.0839 g/cm3. What force is required to hold it completely submerged und
mestny [16]

Answer:

0.25 N

Explanation:

The density of the ball (\rho_b) = 0.0839 g/cm³ = 83.9 kg/m³

The density of water (\rho_w) = 1000 kg/m³

diameter = 3.77 cm = 0.0377 m

radius of ball = 0.0377/2 = 0.01885 m

The volume (V) = \frac{4}{3} \pi r^3=\frac{4}{3}*\pi*0.01885^3=2.8*10^{-5}\ m^3

Let us assume the acceleration due to gravity (g) = 9.8 m/s²

Hence:

The force is required to hold it completely submerged under water (F) is:

F=\rho_w Vg-\rho_b Vg=1000*(2.8*10^{-5})*9.81-83.9*(2.8*10^{-5})*9.81\\\\

F = 0.25 N

What do the subscript in the formula for ethane repersent
Karolina [17]
The formula for ethane is C2H6. (the 2 and 6 are supposed to be subscripts) they show the number of atoms per element. So there are two carbon atoms and six hydrogen atoms in ethane. The subscript in a chemical formula represents the amount of that atom in that compound's formula. <span>In chemistry, no subscript indicates 1 of that particular atom. HCl contains 1 atom of hydrogen and 1 atom of chlorine, whereas H20 contains 2 atoms of hydrogen and 1 atom of oxygen.It should be noted, however that this does not necessarily hold true for empiracle formulas, since these have been reduced to the simplest whole number ratio and do not necessarily reflect the number of each element present in an actual molecule.

I hope this helps you! Good luck :)</span>

When you drink cold water, your body must expend metabolic energy in order to maintain normal body temperature (37° C) by warmin
Papessa [141]

Answer:

The number of liters of ice water is 11 L

Explanation:

Given data:

normal body temperature = 37°C

temperature of the ice water = 0°C

Cwater = specific heat of water = 4186 J/kg °C

Suppose the person drinks 1 L of cold water, then, the mass is 1 kg

The heat is:

Q_{water} =mC_{water} (T_{ice} -T_{body} )=1*4186*(0-37)=-154882J

The sign (-) indicates the energy lost by the metabolic process. If the Qwalk is 390 kilocalories, then the number of liters of ice water is equal to:

n=\frac{Q_{walk} }{Q_{water} } =\frac{390*4186}{154882} =10.54=11L
