We can easily calculate for the heat Q needed to change 5.42 grams of solid gold to liquid gold at its melting point using the equation
     Q = mLf,
where m is the mass of solid gold and Lf is the latent heat of fusion of gold.

Substituting the values to the equation we now have
     Q = 5.42 g (66.6 J/g) = 360.972 J

Therefore we need 361 Joules to melt 5.42 grams of solid gold.

When perspiration on the human body absorbs heat, some of the perspiration turns into water vapor?
bixtya [17]
Yes, this statement is true. Majority of the fluids in our body is water. So, when we perspire, it comes out as a salt solution. When the water vaporizes and turns into water vapor, it leaves white residues in our garments after a while. The salt can't be vaporized as fast as the water so it is left as a solid.

At what time of year is the intensity of solar radiation striking each of earth's hemispheres weakest?
bagirrra123 [75]
During winter for a given hemisphere, solar radiation reaches the lowest period of its annual cycle due to the tilt of the earth on its axis. As the earth rotates around the sun, this tilt occludes a portion of the energy released by the sun as it diffuses in the atmosphere.
