Write each ratio statement as a fraction and reduce to lowest terms if possible:
qwelly [4]

The answers are:

18 to 24 =  \frac{18}{24} = \frac{3}{4}

5 to 15 =  \frac{5}{15} = \frac{1}{3}

14:42 =  \frac{14}{42} = \frac{1}{3}

15 cents to 18 cents = \frac{15}{18}  = \frac{5}{6}

Explanation:

To write a fraction using a ratio, simply use the first number as the numerator (top number), in this case, the numbers 18, 5, 14, and 15, and the second or biggest number as a denominator (bottom number), in this case, the numbers 24, 15, 42 and 18. This means the fractions are  \frac{18}{24},  \frac{5}{15}, \frac{14}{42} , and  \frac{15}{18}.

The second step is to reduce or simplify the fractions, which means the numbers in a fraction are divided by the same factor (a number that divides another without a remainder). Additionally, to do this, it is important to reduce the fraction to its minimum.

\frac{18}{24} divide this by 6, which is equivalent to \frac{3}{4}

\frac{5}{15} divide this by 5, which is equivalent to \frac{1}{3}

\frac{14}{42} divide this by 14. which is equivalent to \frac{1}{3}

\frac{15}{18} divide this by 3, which is equivalent to \frac{5}{6}

A recycling plant processes an average of ( 2/3) ton of glass each minute. At approximately what rate does the recycling plant p
Olegator [25]

First, you need to find the amount of rate of change/slope of this equation of minutes, which is 2/3 of a ton.

We will then multiply 2/3 by 60, because we need to find how much in an hour.  (60 minutes = 1 hour)

2/3 x 60 = 40

We will then multiply 40 by 24, because we need to find approximately what rate the recycling plant processes glass in a full day. (24 hours = 1 day)

40 x 24 = 960

We now have our answer:

The recycling plant processes 960 tons of glass in a whole day.

Hope this helps! :)

35% of a number is what fraction of that number?
shepuryov [24]

35% of a number (say, x) is 35% * x.

35% can be written as a fraction, too. % means /100, so 35% is 35/100 which simplifies to 7/20.

So, 35% * x = 7/20 * x

ABC and CBD form a linear pair and have equal measures. Tell if ABC is acute, right, or obtuse
Murrr4er [49]
To form a linear pair means that when added, they equal 180 degrees.
but if they have equal measures....180/2 = 90...then they would both equal 90 degrees.....and 90 degrees is a right angle.
So ABC and CBD are both right angles
