1, Recall all the models you described in task 1. Think about the results each model would predict for the experiment with hydro

gen gas. Which models of the atom does the experimental evidence support? Explain why these models are compatible with the experimental results. 2. Which models of the atom in task 1 are not supported by the results of the hydrogen gas experiment? For each of these models, explain the experimental results that the model would predict. models are daltons, thomsons, rutherfords and bohrs

Answer:

The models in task 1 had been dalton's, Thomson's, Ruthordord's, and Bohr's.

A gas discharge tube consists of a gas-filled tube equipped with a metal electrode at every end. In this case, the gas used is hydrogen. An electric current is passed through the tube. The electrons in the hydrogen soak up energy from the electric current and get excited to a higher energy level. As the electrons return to their original energy state, known as the ground state, they emit light of a specific color. The shade of the light relies upon on the amount of energy that it carries. This energy is the difference in energy of the excited state and the ground state. Particles of different gases emit light carrying unique amounts of energy and, as a result, different colors. Hydrogen emits four visible colorations of light.

Magnesium (used in the manufacture of light alloys) reacts with iron(III) chloride to form magnesium chloride and iron. 3Mg(s) +
Paladinen [302]

Answer:

Theanswer to your question is:

Limiting reactant = FeCl₃

Excess reactant = 1.66 g of Mg

Explanation:

Data

Mg = 41 g   = 24.31 g/mol

FeCl₃ = 175 g = 162.2 g/mol

                         3Mg(s) + 2FeCl₃(s) → 3MgCl₂(s) + 2Fe(s)

                      3(24.31) of Mg ------------------  2(162.2)  of FeCl₃

                      72.93 g of Mg ------------------ 324.4 g of FeCl₃

Theoretical Proportion = 324.4/72.93 = 4.44

Practical proportion   =  175 / 41 = 4.2

As the proportion disminishes the limiting reactant is FeCl₃.

Excess reactant

                               72.93 g of Mg ------------------ 324.4 g of FeCl₃

                                   x -------------------------           175 g of FeCl₃

x = (175 x 72.93) / 324.4

x = 39.34 g of Mg

Excess = 41 - 39.34

           = 1.66 g of Mg

When H2(g) reacts with O2(g) to form H2O(g) , 242 kJ of energy are evolved for each mole of H2(g) that reacts. Write a balanced
algol [13]

Answer:

2H2(g) + O2(g) --------> 2H2O(g). ∆H= -242KJmol-1

Explanation:

A thermochemical equation is a balanced chemical reaction equation that includes the physical states of all reactants and products and the energy change.

As shown above, hydrogen reacted with oxygen in the gas phase to form water, an energy of 242KJ was evolved and we are required to put this in a thermochemical equation using the least coefficients.

Hydrogen reacts with oxygen to form water in the gas phase in a least ratio of 2:1 as shown in the answer.

The term 'energy evolved' in the question means that the reaction is exothermic and energy is evolved. Hence ∆H is negative as shown.
