cost in cents

cost = 5m

2.
miles = c + 2

Answer:

1) c = 5cents/min × m

2) x = (2+c) miles

Explanation:

1) Cost paid per minute = 5 cents

Or we can also write it as cost per minute = 5 cents/min

Suppose Tom uses phone for m minutes, then cost (c)will be given an expression :

c = 5cents/min × m

2) Distance covered by Clint in a week = c  miles

Distance covered by Brenda =  x

Brenda runs 2 miles more each week than Clint.

x = (2+c) miles

State general trend for metal properties as you go left to right across a period
qwelly [4]

Periodic trends are specific patterns that are present in the periodic table that illustrate different aspects of a certain element, including its size and its electronic properties. Major periodic trends include: electronegativity, ionization energy, electron affinity, atomic radius, melting point, and metallic character. Periodic trends, arising from the arrangement of the periodic table, provide chemists with an invaluable tool to quickly predict an element's properties. These trends exist because of the similar atomic structure of the elements within their respective group families or periods, and because of the periodic nature of the elements.

Electronegativity Trends

Electronegativity can be understood as a chemical property describing an atom's ability to attract and bind with electrons. Because electronegativity is a qualitative property, there is no standardized method for calculating electronegativity. However, the most common scale for quantifying electronegativity is the Pauling scale (Table A2), named after the chemist Linus Pauling. The numbers assigned by the Pauling scale are dimensionless due to the qualitative nature of electronegativity. Electronegativity values for each element can be found on certain periodic tables. An example is provided below.

From left to right across a period of elements, electronegativity increases. If the valence shell of an atom is less than half full, it requires less energy to lose an electron than to gain one. Conversely, if the valence shell is more than half full, it is easier to pull an electron into the valence shell than to donate one.

From top to bottom down a group, electronegativity decreases. This is because atomic number increases down a group, and thus there is an increased distance between the valence electrons and nucleus, or a greater atomic radius.

Important exceptions of the above rules include the noble gases, lanthanides, and actinides. The noble gases possess a complete valence shell and do not usually attract electrons. The lanthanides and actinides possess more complicated chemistry that does not generally follow any trends. Therefore, noble gases, lanthanides, and actinides do not have electronegativity values.

As for the transition metals, although they have electronegativity values, there is little variance among them across the period and up and down a group. This is because their metallic properties affect their ability to attract electrons as easily as the other elements.

According to these two general trends, the most electronegative element is fluorine, with 3.98 Pauling units.

The concept of determining which reactant is limiting and which is in excess is akin to determining the number of sandwiches tha
OLga [1]

Answer:

Cheese will be limiting reactant.

Explanation:

In given question it is stated that two slices of breads are required for one sandwich. The total bread slices available are 52. we divide the 52 by 2 to determine the number of sandwich which could made from 52 slices.

52/2 = 26

26 sandwich could be made from 52 bread slices.

The amount of cheese required for one sandwich is 3 slices. The available slices of cheese are 69.

69/3 =  23

we can see that only 23 set of slices of cheese are available while bread slices are available for 26 sandwiches. so we can make only 23 sandwiches from given quantity of ingredients. The 6 slices or 3 set of bread will left, because cheese is limited.

Answer: The chemical formula for barium chloride shows the number of ATOMS of each element in the SMALLEST representative unit of the substance.

Explanation:

The chemical formula of compound are ways in which a chemical substance is being expressed using chemical symbols to show types of atoms and subscripts to indicate the number of atoms of each element. It shows the number of atoms in a single ( smallest) representative unit of the substance. Using the compound BaCl2;

"Ba" represents the abbreviation for the element "Barium" while "Cl2" represents the abbreviation for the element "chloride" with the subscript of two indicating the number of atoms of chlorine.

There are steps to be considered while writing a chemical compound of a substance, they include:

--> write the symbol of all the elements that forms the compound ( Ba and Cl).

--> write the valency of each element. (Ba has 2 valence electrons while Cl has 1 valence electron).

--> exchange the valency of the both elements such that Ba bears valency of 1 and Cl bears valency of 2 electrons.

--> finally, write the valency of second atom as subscript of first and Write valency of first atom as subscript of second. You will achieve BaCl2 as your chemical formula.
