Answer: D) Using aerosols that contain chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) decreases the amount of protective ozone (O3).

Explanation:

The human activities directly or indirectly affects the surrounding environment. The activities like burning of the fossil fuels,  use of radioactive substance, deforestation are responsible for deteriorating the quality of air, water and soil.

Among the given options, D)Using aerosols that contain chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) decreases the amount of protective ozone (O3). is the best example of a way human lifestyles affect the environmental system. This is because of the fact that the liberation of CFC gases into atmosphere get accumulated at the stratospheric layer when the protective ozone layer is present. These gases reduced the quantity of the ozone layer which act as a blanket for the invasive infrared and ultraviolet radiations. These radiations are capable of causing detrimental affects on the living organisms.

A, B, and C make no sense

A makes no sense because Methane is lighter than air, and so the Methane would stay higher in the atmosphere, so it would not seep into the ground, it would remain in the air.

B makes no sense because Burning fossil fuels causes air pollution by increasing the amount of carbon dioxide in the air. the only way that carbon dioxide could pollute water is if it is combined on a molecular level, plus carbon dioxide does not inhibit the process of water being evaporated by the sun.

C also makes no sense because Deforestation causes acid rain by increasing carbon dioxide not decreasing carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.

so therefore by elimination your answer is D
