5 1/2 + p = 6

subtract 5 /12 from each side

5 1/2  - 5 1/2+ p = 6 - 5 1/2

p = 6 - 5 1/2

borrow from the 6

p = 5 2/2 - 5 1/2

p = 1/2

Hi! The steps that need to be taken are the following:

To start off: 1/2 = 0.5

5.5 + p = 6

5.5 - 5.5 + p = 6 - 5.5

p = 0.5, or 1/2

Hope this helps you!

Could someone do all the problems and/or check my work?

11. You’ve done it correctly

12. Let x^2=y
y^2+13y+40=0
(y+8)(y+5)=0
y=8, 5
Since y=x^2
x^2=8 x^2=5
x=+/-√5 x= +/-2√2

13. x^4-x^2-x^2-8=0
x^4-2x^2-8=0
let x^2=y
Y^2-2y-8=0
(y-4)(y+2)=0
y=4, -2
Since y=x^2
X^2=4 X^2=-2
X= +/- 2 This wouldn’t be a real solution

14. It’s pretty much the same process, just substitute y in for x^2. If you’re confused feel free to ask and I can do it, or you can put it through Photomath

15. You’re on the right track so I’m just going to continue from where you left off
x^2(4x+5)-4(x+5)=0
(x^2-4)(4x+5)=0
x= +/- 2 4x=5
x=5/4 or 1 1/4

Hope this helped :)

Shane bought lunch for $5.38 and a shirt for $15.95. He then used the rest of his money to buy a book. He spent a total of $38.1
barxatty [35]
You add $5.38 & $15.95, which equals $21.33. Then subtract $21.33 from $38.12. Your answer is $16.79. That's how much Shane spent on the book.

GEOMETRY- What is the area of the figure, show your work please!
Kamila [148]
Since this is a 45-45-90 right triangle, the hypotenuse = sqrt2 * leg
24 is the hypotenuse so we need to find the leg.
24 = sqrt2 * leg
Divide both sides by sqrt2
leg = 16.97
A = (1/2)b*h
A = (1/2)*16.97*16.97
A = 144ft^2

  • Perimeter of rectangle = 40 inches
  • Length of rectangle = 15 inches

Let the required Breadth of rectangle be 'x' inches

Perimeter of rectangle is calculated by the given below formula :

  • Perimeter = 2(Length + Breadth)

Now, substitute the given values in above formula :

→ 40 = 2(15 + x)
