3.264g of zonic chloride and 1.468g of zinc metal how much zinc obtained? Was all zinc possible from the recovery?

Chemistry

3.264 g of ZnCl2 is 0.02394 moles. From the formula for ZnCl2, this is also the moles of Zn you should have gotten.

Atomic mass of Zn = 1.565 g is the theoretical yield you should have gotten

percent recovery = 1.468 g / 1.565 g * 100

A pump contains 1.5 L of air at 175 kPa. You draw back on the piston of the pump, expanding the volume until the pressure reads
Tresset [83]

Answer:

\large \boxed{\text{86.8 L}}

Explanation:

The temperature and amount of gas are constant, so we can use Boyle’s Law.

p_{1}V_{1} = p_{2}V_{2}

Data:

\begin{array}{rclrcl}p_{1}& =& \text{0.579 atm}\qquad & V_{1} &= & \text{150 L} \\p_{2}& =& \text{1.00 atm}\qquad & V_{2} &= & ?\\\end{array}

Calculations:

\begin{array}{rcl}0.579 \times 150 & =& 1.00V_{2}\\86.85 & = & 1.00V_{2}\\V_{2} & = &\dfrac{86.85}{1.00}\\\\& = &\textbf{86.8}\\\end{array}\\\text{The new volume of the gas is } \large \boxed{\textbf{86.8 L}}

Calculate the percent ionization of formic acid (hco2h) in a solution that is 0.311 m in formic acid and 0.189 m in sodium forma
ohaa [14]
<span>Answer: 0.094%

</span><span>Explanation:
</span>
<span></span><span /><span>
1) Equilibrium chemical equation:
</span><span />

<span>Only the ionization of the formic acid is the important part.
</span><span />

<span>HCOOH(aq) ⇄ HCOO⁻(aq) + H⁺(aq).
</span><span />

<span>2) Mass balance:
</span><span />

<span>                   HCOOH(aq)     HCOO⁻(aq)     H⁺(aq).

Start             0.311                 0.189

Reaction       - x                      +x                   +x

Final             0.311 - x          0.189 + x            x

3) Acid constant equation:
</span><span />

<span>Ka = [HCOO-] [N+] / [HCOOH] = (0.189 + x) x / (0.311 -x)
</span><span />

<span>= (0.189 + x )x / (0.311 - x) = 0.000177

4) Solve the equation:

You can solve it exactly (it will lead to a quadratic equation so you can use the quadratiic formula). I suggest to use the fact that x is much much smaller than 0.189 and 0.311.
</span><span />

<span>With that approximation the equation to solve becomes:

</span><span>0.1890x / 0.311 = 0.000177, which leads to:</span>
<span /><span>
x = 0.000177 x 0.311 / 0.189 = 2.91 x 10⁻⁴ M

5) With that number, the percent of ionization (alfa) is:
</span><span />

<span>percent of ionization = (moles ionized / initial moles) x 100 =
</span><span>
</span><span>
</span><span>percent ionization = (concentration of ions / initial concentration) x 100 =
</span><span>
</span><span>
</span><span>percent ionization = (0.000291 / 0.311)x 100 = 0.0936% = 0.094%
</span>

The initial volume of a gas at a pressure of 3 atm is 5.2 L. What will the volume be if the pressure is increased to 15 atm?
julsineya [31]

Answer:

1 L

Explanation:

Use Boyle's Law, which is defined as:

p1v1 = p2v2

p1 = 3atm

v1 = 5.2L

p2 = 15atm

v2 = ?

We are solving for v2 because all other variables are given.

p1v1 = p2v2

(3atm)(5.2L) = (15atm)(v2)

v2 = (3)(5.2) / (15) = 1.04 L ≈ 1 L

Why the phospholipids are found in large amount in liver, brain and blood?
alekssr [168]

Answer:

Phospholipids are carried in the blood and deposited in vital tissues such as the brain and the liver where they serve as protection to these vital organs.

Explanation:

Lipids is another name for fats. These fats play many crucial roles in the body. Phospholipids are water soluble fats. They are important in building the protective barrier, or membrane, around body cells. In blood and other body fluids, these phspholipids usually form structures that enclose fat and carry it throughout the bloodstream to the organs where they are stored in the body.

These phospholipids also play an important role of serving as a protection to vital organs in the body such as the liver and brain. Hence, a large amount of phospholipids are found in the liver and brain where they serve as protection to these vital organs.
