Suppose that a substance in a beaker is heated over a burner in a science lab. Which observation would most likely indicate that

a chemical change has occurred in the substance?
1) If the substance is a liquid or solid, an increase in temperature would indicate a chemical change.

2) If the substance is a liquid, a change of some of the liquid to gaseous form would indicate a chemical change.

3) If the substance is a solid, a change of some of the solid to liquid form would indicate a chemical change.

4) If the substance is a liquid or solid, the production of an odor would indicate a chemical change.

The solubility of a gas is 0.890 g/L at a pressure of 120 kPa. What is the solubility of the gas if the pressure is changed to 1
IgorC [24]

The solubility of the gas if the pressure is changed to 100 kPa is 0.742 g/L

<h3>Effect of Pressure on Solubility </h3>

As the <em>pressure </em>of a gas increases, the <em>solubility </em>increases, and as the <em>pressure </em>of a gas decreases, the <em>solubility </em>decreases.

Thus, Solubility varies directly with Pressure

If S represents Solubility and P represents Pressure,

Then we can write that

S ∝ P

Introducing proportionality constant, k

S = kP

S/P = k

∴ We can write that

\frac{S_{1} }{P_{1} } = \frac{S_{2} }{P_{2} }

Where S_{1} is the initial solubility

P_{1} is the initial pressure

S_{2} is the final solubility

P_{2} is the final pressure

From the given information

S_{1} = 0.890 \ g/L

P_{1} = 120 \ kPa

P_{2} = 100 \ kPa

Putting the parameters into the formula, we get

\frac{0.890}{120}=\frac{S_{2}}{100}

S_{2}= \frac{0.890 \times 100}{120}

S_{2}= 0.742 \ g/L

Hence, the solubility of the gas if the pressure is changed to 100 kPa is 0.742 g/L

Atoms of one element easily changes to atoms of another element <br> a. True <br> b. False
Ganezh [65]
Hola!

→ Your query:
Atoms of one element easily changes to atoms of another element. Is it True? or False?

→ The answer is: TRUE

→ Reason :
We can change atom of one element to other atom by adding more particles into them. ex : Neutron, Protons and Electrons.

This is how nuclear fusion works.

hope it helps!

`Suppose you have a sample that has a low pH (acidic). What would be true of the [OH-]?
Murljashka [212]

Answer:

A sample that has low pH, will have a [OH⁻] < 1x10⁻⁷

Explanation:

Kw = 1x10⁻¹⁴

[H₃O⁺] = 1x10⁻⁷

[OH⁻] = 1x10⁻⁷

If pH is very low, [H₃O⁺] > 1x10⁻⁷

For example,  [H₃O⁺] = 1x10⁻³ M

- log [H₃O⁺]  = pH

- log 1x10⁻³ M = pH = 3

[OH⁻] will be < 1x10⁻⁷

For the example we made before

pH = 3

pOH = 14 - pH → 11

10^-pOH = [OH⁻]

10⁻¹¹ = 1x10⁻¹¹
