Two isotopes of a certain element have binding energies that differ by 5.4810 MeV. The isotope with the larger binding energy co

Answer:

The difference in atomic mass between the two isotopes is 1.002780942 atomic mass unit.

Explanation:

For an isotope-I (heavier)

Mass of an isotope-I=M

Number of neutrons = n+1

Number of protons = p

\Delta m_1=((n+1)\times m_n)+(p\times m_p))-M

For an isotope-II

Mass of an isotope-II=M'

Number of neutrons = n

Number of protons = p

\Delta m_2=((n)\times m_n)+(p\times m_p))-M'

Difference in binding energy:

B.E=\Delta mc^2 (general binding energy expression)

Binding energy difference between two isotopes:

\Delta B.E=B.E-B.E'=5.4810 MeV=(\Delta m_1-\Delta m_2)c^2..(1)

5.4810 MeV=(\Delta m_1-\Delta m_2)c^2

=([((n+1)\times m_n)+(p\times m_p))-M]-[((n)\times m_n)+(p\times m_p))-M'])c^2

B.E-B.E'=5.4810 MeV

=([((n+1)\times m_n)+(p\times m_p))-M]-[((n)\times m_n)+(p\times m_p))-M'])c^2

5.4810 MeV=[1\times m_n-M+M']c^2

\frac{5.4810}{931.50} u=m_n-M+M'

M-M'=1.008665 u -\frac{5.4810}{931.50} u=1.002780942 u

a ball is dropped from rest at a height of 89m above the ground. (a)what is it's speed just before it hits the ground? (b) how l
kykrilka [37]

Answer:

(a) 41.75m/s

(b) 4.26s

Explanation:

Let:

 Distance, D = 89m

 Gravity, g = 9.8 m/s^{2}

Initial Velocity, u = 0m/s

Final Velocity, v = ?

Time Taken, t = ?

With the distance formula, which is

D = ut + \frac{1}{2} gt^2

and by substituting what we already know, we have:

89 = \frac{1}{2}×9.8×t^{2}

With the equation above, we can solve for t:

t=\sqrt{\frac{89(2)}{9.8}} \\t=\sqrt{\frac{178}{9.8} } \\t=\sqrt{18.16} \\t=4.26 seconds

Now that we have solved t, we can use the following velocity formula to solve for v:

v = u + at, where a is also equals to g, so we have

v = u + gt

By substituting u = 0, g = 9.8, and t = 4.26,

We have:

v = 0 + 9.8(4.26)\\v = 41.75m/s

zysi [14]

Answer:

W has the lowest density and Y has the greatest density

Explanation:

Density of W = mass/volume = 11/24 = 0.45

Density of X = mass/volume = 11/12 = 0.91

Density of Y = m/v = 5.5/4 = 1.375

Density of Z = m/v = 5.5/11 = 0.5

From these we can find the answer......

Hope this answer is useful......

(20) A rocket is launched vertically. At time t = 0 seconds, the rocket’s engine shuts down. At the time, the rocket has reached
Diano4ka-milaya [45]

Answer:

Explanation:

Given that,

h(t) = -9.8t² / 2 + 125t + 500

for t > 0.

At t = 0, the rocket is at height h = 500m, at a velocity of Vo = 125m/s.

We want to find the maximum height reached by rocket

Using mathematics maxima and minima

let find the turning point when dh/dt = 0

dh/dt = -9.8t + 125

dh / dt = 0 = -9.8t + 125

9.8t = 125

t = 125 / 9.8

t = 12.76s

Let find the turning point to know if this time t = 12.76 is maximum or minimum point

Let find d²h / dt²

d²h / dt² = -9.8

Since, d²h/dt² < 0, then, at t = 12.76s is the maximum points.

Then, the maximum height reached is

h =  -9.8t² / 2 + 125t + 500

h =  -9.8(12.76)² / 2 + 125(12.76) + 500

h = -797.80 + 1595 + 500

h = 1297.2 m

The maximum height reached is 1297.2 m

From the attachment, the maximum height is 1297.2m at t = 12.76sec.

Comment, the result are the same for both the analysis aspect and the graphical aspect.
