A solid sphere of mass 2.50 kg and radius 0.120 m is at rest at the top of a ramp inclined 15.0°. It rolls to the bottom without

slipping. The upper end of the ramp is 1.20 m higher than the lower end. Find the sphere’s total kinetic energy when it reaches the bottom.

Answer:

KE= 30 J

Explanation:

Given that

m= 2.5 kg

r= 0.12 m

θ = 15°

h= 1.2 m

As we know that solid sphere rolls without slipping.It means that

v= ω r

v=Linear velocity

ω=Angular speed

r=radius

The total kinetic energy KE

KE=\dfrac{1}{2}mv^2+\dfrac{1}{2}I\omega^2

Moment of inertia of solid sphere I

I=\dfrac{2}{5}mr^2

Now from energy conservation

Energy at top = Energy at bottom

The potential energy at top = m g h

Potential energy at bottom = 0

Kinetic energy at top = 0

Kinetic energy at bottom = KE

m g h + 0 = 0 + KE

KE= 2.5 x 10 x 1.2                 ( take g =10 m/s²)

KE= 30 J

The box leaves position x=0x=0 with speed v0v0. The box is slowed by a constant frictional force until it comes to rest at posit
SpyIntel [72]

Answer:

Magnitude of the Frictional force = (mv₀²)/2x₁

Explanation:

For the frictional force to stop the box, it has to produce the deceleration of the box; thereby being the opposing force to the box's motion.

According to Newton's first law of motion

Frictional force = (mass of the box) × (deceleration experienced by the box)

Let the mass of the box be m

Then,

Frictional force = ma

Then we can obtain the deceleration using the equations of motion

v² = u² + 2ax

u = Initial velocity = v₀ m/s

v = Final velocity = 0 m/s (since the box comes to rest at the end)

x = horizontal distance covered = (x₁ - x₀) = x₁ (since x₀ = 0)

a = ?

v² = u² + 2ax

0 = (v₀)² + 2ax₁

2ax₁ = - v₀²

a = - (v₀²)/(2x₁) (minus sign, because it's a deceleration)

Magnitude of the Frictional force = ma = (mv₀²)/2x₁

is plugged into the outlet of a 120−V circuit that has a 20−A circuit breaker. You plug an electric hair dryer into the same out
WINSTONCH [101]

Answer:

Given the point of maximun electric power of the hair dryer 1500 (w); The circuit breaker won´t trip at all

Explanation:

The most simplyfied  relation between power, voltage and current is:

Electric power (in watts) =Voltage (in volts) * current (in ampers)

In the case of P= 1500 (w) and V= 120 (v) we have:

I = 1500/120 (a)    = 12,65 (a)

This value  is far away of 20 (a) (the nominal trip current
