Answer:

The equlibrium concentration sof Ca+2 ion willl be 4.9×10∧-3 M

Data Given:

              Ksp of CaSO4 = 2.4 × 10∧-5

              CaSO4 ⇔ Ca+2   +  SO4∧-2

Solution:

                Ksp = [Ca+2].[ SO4∧-2]

                 2.4 × 10∧-5 = [x].[x]= x²

                 x =  4.9×10∧-3 M

Result:

  • The conc. of Ca+2 ion is 4.9×10∧-3 M

Problem 4
Hunter-Best [27]

Answer:

1.93 g

Explanation:

We are given;

The chemical equation;

2C₂H₆(g) + 7O₂(g) → 4CO₂(g) + 6H₂O(l) ΔH = -3120 kJ

We are required to calculate the mass of ethane that would produce 100 kJ of heat.

  • From the equation given;
  • 2 moles of ethane burns to produce 3120 Kilo joules of heat
  • Therefore;

Number of moles that will produce 100 kJ will be;

= (2 × 100 kJ) ÷ 3120 kJ)

= 0.0641 moles

  • But, molar mass of ethane is 30.07 g/mol

Therefore;

Mass of ethane = 0.0641 moles × 30.07 g/mol

                          = 1.927 g

                          = 1.93 g

Thus, the mass of ethane that would produce 100 kJ of heat is 1.93 g

Sodium explodes when it contacts water. If I have a compound that contains sodium, will it explode if it is exposed to water?
Vaselesa [24]

Answer:

Option D = No, when elements combine to form a new material, they have properties unique to the new materials.

Explanation:

When sodium contact with water it loses its one electron and thus gain positive charge. When there are more sodium atoms present and many atoms do this thus more positive ions are produced and these positive ions repeal each other at high speed and explosion occur.

But when it form compound with other material, it will not showed this behavior.

Example:

Consider the sodium chloride, when it dissolve in water sodium not showed explosion. In sodium chloride sodium already gives its electron to the chlorine and have stable electronic configuration. The sodium present in cationic form. When it dissolve, partial positive charge of water surrounds the Cl⁻ and partial negative charge of water surrounds the Na⁺ ion, ans sodium chloride gets dissolve into water without explosion.

Which of the following is not included in John Dalton's modern theory of the atom?
Akimi4 [234]

The answer for the following question is option "C".

Option C is not included in the John Dalton's modern theory of an atom.

  • "It states atoms of different elements combine to form new compound" but not new elements

Explanation:

According to John's Dalton's modern theory of an atom:

1. All matter is composed of atoms.

2. Atoms cannot be created,destroyed or subdivided in the ordinary chemical reactions.

3. Atoms of one element differ in the properties from atoms of an another element.

(i.e.)Each and every atom of the element has its own unique properties of their own.

4. Atoms of one element combine with the atoms of another element to form new compound.

5. Atoms that make up an element are identical to each other.
