Two mechanics worked on a car. the first mechanic worked for 5 hours, and the second mechanic worked for 15 hours. together they
Ksenya-84 [330]

Alright, lets get started.

Suppose first mechanic charges= x

So, second mechanic charges will be = (125 - x) (because total of their rates was 125)

first mechanic worked for 5 hours, and the second mechanic worked for 15 hours and together they charged a total of $1225

Means

5 x + 15 (125-x) = 1225

5 x + 1875 - 15 x  = 1225

1875 - 10 x = 1225

Adding 10 x in both sides

1875 - 10 x + 10 x = 1225 + 10 x \\1875 = 1225 + 10 x

Subtracting 1225 from both sides

1875 - 1225 = 1225  + 10 x - 1225\\650 = 10 x

Dividing 10 in both sides

\frac{650}{10}  =  \frac{10x}{10}

x = 65

For second mecahnics rate = 125 - 65 = 60

Hence The mechanic who worked 5 hours charged $ 65 per hour, the one who worked 15 hours charged $ 60 per hour: Answer

Hope it will help :)

Roger Waters can scrape up just enough money to rent a canoe for 1 hour and 30 minutes. If he paddles out on a lake at 4 kph and
Inga [223]

Answer:

The distance paddling out on a lake is 2 kilometres and the distance returning back is also 2 kilometres. In total, 4 kilometres.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let t hours be the time it takes Roger to puddle out on a lake. Then \left(1\dfrac{1}{2}-t\right) hours is the time it takes him to return (note that 1 hour and 30 minutes is exactly 1\dfrac{1}{2} hours).

1. If he paddles out on a lake at 4 kph for t minutes, then the distance is

4\cdot t=4t\ km.

2. If he  returns at 2 kph, then the distance is

2\cdot \left(1\dfrac{1}{2}-t\right)=3-2t\ km.

3. These distances are the same, thus

4t=3-2t,\\ \\6t=3,\\ \\t=\dfrac{1}{2}\ hour.

The distance paddling out on a lake is 2 kilometres and the distance returning back is also 2 kilometres. In total, 4 kilometres.

Katena32 [7]

Answer:

B) 15.7

Step-by-step explanation:

AB = 6

BC = 3

AC^2 = 6^2 + 3^2 = 36 + 9 = 45

AC = √45 = 6.7

Perimeter =  AB + BC + AC

= 6 + 3 + 6.7

= 15.7
