26-38+(-3) what is the answer.
Norma-Jean [14]
So basically, first just do this step by step, or subtract 38 from 26 first.

26 - 38 is basically -(38 - 26), or -12.

So then, it becomes -12 + (-3)

A - and a + becomes - because you're adding negative 3.

-12 - 3

Which then becomes -15.

If you were to solve the following system by substitution, what would be the best
xxMikexx [17]
To solve the two equations simultaneously using the substitution method we need to rearrange one of the equation to make either 'x' or 'y' the subject.

We can try in turn rearranging both equations and see which unknown term would have been easier to solve first

Equation 2x+8y=12

Making 'x' the subject
2x=12-8y , dividing each term by 2
x=6-4y⇒ (Option 1)

Making 'y' the subject
8y=12-2x, multiply each term by 8 gives
y= \frac{12}{8} - \frac{2}{8}x⇒ (Option 2)

Equation 3x-8y=11
Making 'x' the subject
3x=11+8y, divide each term by 3
x= \frac{11}{3}+ \frac{8}{3}y ⇒ (Option 3)

Making 'y' the subject
8y=3x-11, divide each term by 8
y= \frac{3}{8}x- \frac{11}{8} ⇒ (Option 4)

From all the possibilities of rearranged term, the most efficient option would have been the first option, from equation 2x+8y=12 with 'x' as the subject, x=6-4y

I need some help please

Answer: 113.0 ft (bottom right corner)

=====================================

Explanation:

The triangle has a horizontal leg of 220 ft and a vertical leg of x ft. We'll use the tangent rule to connect the opposite side and adjacent side

opposite side = x
adjacent side = 220
this is with the reference angle shown in the diagram

So,
tan(angle) = opposite/adjacent
tan(26) = x/220
220*tan(26) = x
x = 220*tan(26)
x = 107.301169 ... see note below
x = 107.3

Now that we know the approximate value of x, we add on 5.7 to get
x+5.7 = 107.3+5.7 = 113.0

note: make sure your calculator is in degree mode. The value is approximate to 6 decimal places

2.192 closer. To 0 ,1,2,3
slega [8]
Closer to 2. If you round it, because the number after the 2 is less than 5 you round it down so it's closer to 2
