Answer:

Earth's surface

Explanation:

Most abundant green houses gases in earth's atmosphere are:

water vapour, carbon dioxide, nitrous oxide, methane, ozone and chlorofluoro carbon.

Green house gases are required to maintain earth's average temperature.

Without greenhouse gases, the average temperature of Earth's surface may fall to−18 °C.

Green houses gases trap the thermal infrared raditaion emitted from the earth's surface and keep the earth warm in order to sustain life.

So, greenhouse gases absorb radiation from the earth's surface.

How many valence electrons does each atom of arsenic have?
abruzzese [7]

Answer: 5

Explanation: Arsenic, As, has 5 electrons in the 4th energy shell. 4s^2 and 4p^3. The electrons being added for the elements scandium through zinc are all going into the 3d orbital, in the 3rd energy shell. They don't count, since valence electrons are only those in the highest energy level, 4 in this case.

Choose the correct answer. The difference between the mass number of an isotope and its atomic number is:
lisabon 2012 [21]

The difference between the mass number of an isotope and its atomic number is number of neutrons.

What is atomic mass?

Atomic mass is defined as the sum of number of protons and number of neutrons of an element.

Atomic mass is represented by A.

What is Atomic number?

Atomic number is defined as the number of electron in an element.

Atomic number is represented by Z.

What is Isotopes?

Isotopes are the element which have same atomic number but have different atomic mass.

Number of proton is equal to number of electrons.

Proton is positively charged, electrons are negativity charge while neutrons are neutral in nature.

Proton and neutrons are present in the nucleus of an element. On the other hand, electron revolves around the nucleus.

For example:

The atomic mass of¹⁶₈O is 16, while of ¹⁷₈O is 17.

Neutrons = atomic mass - atomic number

Neutrons of ¹⁶₈O = 16-8 = 8

Neutrons of ¹⁷₈O = 17-8 = 9

So, they have different atomic mass and number of neutrons.

Thus, we concluded that the difference between the mass number of an isotope and its atomic number is number of neutrons.
