A rectangle lot 30m by 20m is surronded on all four sides by a concrete walk 3m wide. If you need to concrete only the sidewalk,

how much concrete will you need? (surface area)

The length of the rectangle is 30 m

The width of the rectangle is 20 m

The sidewalk is 3m wide on all sides, so

length of sidewalk = 30+6 =36 m

Width of sidewalk = 20+6 = 26 m

Area of rectangle = length*width

Area of rectangle = 30\times20=600

Area of rectangle including sidewalk = 36\times26=936

Hence, area of sidewalk alone = area of rectangle with sidewalk -  area of rectangle

Surface Area = 936-600=336 m²

What is the slope and y-intercept -4x+2y=-2
natka813 [3]

Answer:

Slope: 2

Y-intercept:  (0, -1) or - 1

Step-by-step explanation:

Given the linear equation, -4x + 2y = -2:

Transform the given equation into its slope-intercept form, y = mx + b:

-4x + 2y = -2

Add 4x to both sides:

-4x + 4x + 2y = 4x - 2

2y = 4x - 2

Divide both sides by 2 to isolate y:

\frac{2y}{2} = \frac{4x - 2}{2}

y = 2x - 1 ⇒ This is the slope-intercept form where the slope, m = 2, and the y-intercept is (0, -1).

Knowing that 2i is one answer to the equation x^4 - 2x^3 + 6x^2 - 8x + m = 0, find the 'm' and the other possible answers.
kakasveta [241]
Ok so remember
if a+bi is a root, then a-bi is also a root

since 2i is a root, -2i is also a root
use synthetic division and the fact that when we divide by 2i and -2i, we have to get all real coeficients and end witha zero at the end
I will show the division in the attachment

we find m=8

we then find th resulting equation that is x^2-2x+2=0
quadratic formula
x=\frac{-b+/- \sqrt{b^{2}-4ac} }{2a}
x=1+i or 1-i

m=8 and the other roots are
x=-2i, 1+i, 1-i

Square FGNM and its diagonals are shown below. Which pairs of line segments are parallel? Select all that apply.
tiny-mole [99]

Answer:

The parallel sides are:

- FG and MN

- GN and FM

Step-by-step explanation:

The question is incomplete, as the image of the square is not attached.

However, I will answer this question using a general rule.

When a square is named ABCD, it means that AB and DC are parallel sides & BC and AD are also parallel

Using this logic, the parallel sides of FGNM are:

- FG and MN

- GN and FM

The diagonals are:

FN and GM

Help with number two
BabaBlast [244]

Answer:

y = -2x+1

Step-by-step explanation:

We have a point and a slope, so we can use the point slope form of a line

y-y1 = m(x-x1)  where m is the slope and (x1,y1) is the point

y-3 = -2(x--1)

y-3=-2(x+1)

Distribute the 2

y-3 = -2x-2

Add 3 to each side

y-3+3 = -2x-2+3

y = -2x+1

This is in slope intercept form
