The balanced chemical equation for the combustion of butane is: 2C2H2 + 5O2 CO2 + 2H2O 2CH4 + 5O2 2CO2 + 4H2O 2C4H10 + 13O2 8CO2
SCORPION-xisa [38]
Butane is C₄H₁₀.

C_4H_{10} + O_2 \to CO_2 + H_2O \\ \\
\hbox{balance carbon and hydrogen on the right-hand side:} \\
C_4 H_{10} + O_2 \to 4 \ CO_2 + 5 \ H_2O \\ \\
\hbox{balance oxygen on the left-hand side:} \\
C_4 H_{10} + \frac{13}{2} \ O_2 \to 4 \ CO_2 + 5 \ H_2O \\ \\
\hbox{multiply by 2 to get rid of the fraction:} \\
2 \ C_4H_{10} + 13 \ O_2 \to 8 \ CO_2 + 10 \ H_2O

The balanced equation is 2 C₄H₁₀ + 13 O₂ <span>→</span> 8 CO₂ + 10 H₂O.

Choose the correct products for the double replacement reaction below. Click here to access the solubility rules to determine wh
Lemur [1.5K]

MgCl₂ & PbSO₄ is the correct product for the given double replacement reaction.

<h3>What is double displacement reaction?</h3>

In the double displacement reaction displacement of two substrate will take place among two reactants and formation of products takes place.

In the question, PbCl₂ reacts with MgSO₄ and displacement between the cations takes place and formation of  MgCl₂ and insoluble precipitate PbSO₄ is formed.

Given reaction is represented as:

PbCl₂ + MgSO₄ → MgCl₂ + PbSO₄

According to the activity series, reactivity of Magnesium is more as compared to the lead atom. So lead is displaced by the magnesium atom and form the above given products.

Hence, option (3) is correct i.e. MgCl₂ & PbSO₄.

Explain why powdered milk and water do not<br>form a homogeneous mixture
lara31 [8.8K]

Answer:

Milk, which when not subjected to temperature, is a homogeneous mixture. This is because- the various components of pure milk, which are the nutrients present in it, don't form separate layers in it and hence can’t be separated by any physical method.

But when milk is subjected to external factors, such as temperature, the milk fat no more remains dissolved in the milk but instead can be seen as a layer on the top-either as a white solid layer which is called as the cream or as yellow droplets. The two layers can be separated by physical means and hence making milk a heterogeneous mixture.

So the conclusion is that milk is a homogeneous mixture by default.
