The genetic composition of an individual or organism is referred to as its genotype. It represents the genes and the alleles present in the genome of the organism. Since genes regulate the genetic traits, the morphological expression of genotype is called phenotype.
For example, if T and t are the two alleles for the gene of plant height, the possible genotypes are "TT, Tt, and tt". Here, TT and Tt give tall plants while the genotype "tt" gives dwarf plants. Tallness and dwarfism is the phenotype associated with the above-mentioned genotypes.
