Answer:

14 1/2

Step-by-step explanation:

Ok let's get started!

First things first...

Let's see what information we have!

Monday practice: 2 1/2 hours

Tuesday practice: 1 3/4 hours

Wednesday practice: 3 hours

First Step:

We need to put each fraction in improper form, so now it will look like this:

Monday practice: 5 / 2 hours

Tuesday practice: 7 / 4 hours

Wednesday practice: 12 / 4 hours

Now why did I put the Wednesday practice in terms of 4? Because we need to find a common denominator and that will be 4 so I made life easier and did it ahead of time!

Second Step:

We now need to put the Monday practice hours with a denominator of 4.

So we need to multiply the denominator by 4 and will do the same for the numerator so now we get:

5*2 / 2*2

Which is 10 / 4!

(hour)

Third Step:

Now we need to add a weeks worth of practice!

10 / 4 + 7 / 4 + 12 / 4 = 29 / 4

So, in a week Cory practices 29 / 4 hours, that's a lot!

Fourth Step:

Now we must find how much she does in 2 weeks. To do so we will do something a little more different then usual. We are going to put 29 / 4 in mixed number form. We will get 7 1/4.

Fifth Step:

Last step!

We will multiply 7 and 1/4 by 2,

7*2 and 1 / 4*2 =

14 and 2 / 4

Now we can still simplify 2 / 4 down to 1 / 2.

So our answer is.....

14 1/2

Sixth Step:

I lied there is one more step.....

REJOICE!!!!

We got through the math problem WHOOP! WHOOP!

Theres three people. So each person needs to do one third (1/3) of the report.

The report is 4 pages long. So now calculate how much 1/3 of 4 is

= 1/3 * 4
= 4/3
= 1 1/3 pages

So each person needs to do one and a third pages.

And if you think about it it makes sense. three people EACH doing one page (1 +1 +1 = 3 pages) and a third of a page (1/3 + 1/3 +1/3 = 1 page) = 4 pages (3 pages + 1 page)
