It's a simultaneous equation ^^; So basically I first look at the number in front of the Y values (if they aren't the same you have to multiply each equation by the other number in front of Y in the second line and vice versa but anyways) you add the two equations if they are the same so: -3x+2y=23 + 5x+2y = -17 which should give you 2x=40 then divide by two to get x put your x answer back into the top or bottom equation (your call ^^;) and then work out what must be the Y value! I really hope this helps! ^^;

Solve each system of inequalties by graphing.
nordsb [41]

Start by graphing each line.

• Because the first inequality is smaller than, it will have a dotted (- - -) line.

• Because the second inequality is smaller than or equal to, it will have a solid line (---).

Then, plug in points to see where your shading will go. If the statement is true (x = x), you will shade that area along the line.

y  < 3x + 2

(0)  < 3(0) + 2

0  <  2

0 is less than 2.

Do the same step for the other equation. Your solution to the problem is any point that lies between the shading from both inequalities (where the blue and red meet).

If you place a 20 ft ladder 4ft from the base of the wall. How high up will it reach? Round answer to the nearest tenth
xeze [42]

Answer:

h = 19.6 ft

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that,

A 20 ft ladder 4ft from the base of the wall.

The height of the ladder, H = 20 ft

The base distance, b = 4 ft

We need to find the height of the reach. Let it is P.

Using Pythagoras theorem,

H^2=b^2+P^2\\\\P=\sqrt{H^2-b^2}\\\\P=\sqrt{20^2-4^2}\\\\=19.59\ ft

or

P = 19.6 ft

So, the height is 19.6 ft.
