Law Incorporation [45]

I've never done a reaction that involved just bond enthalpies before, so this is just a guess.

It's still products - reactants. The problem is the C=O bond. Do you count it once or twice? I'm going to choose once, but don't be surprised if it is incorrect.

Sum of the products - Sum of the reactants.

ΔH = 799 - 494

ΔH = 305

And that would be your answer to three places.

Identify which of the concentration expressions can also be used to describe a solution with a concentration of 1 mg/mL of solut
Alexxandr [17]

Answer: Parts per million (ppm)

Explanation:

Consider the units milligram per milliliter. This gives us one part of the solute per one million parts of solvent. That is 10^ -3/10^-3= 10^-6. This unit is commonly used in analytical chemistry to show very small concentration of analyte. A similar unit is parts per billion(ppb)

Determine the number of protons, electrons, neutrons, valence electrons and valency in Oxygen atom (O) and Oxide ion (O2-). Comp
wolverine [178]

Answer:

                    Atom (O)           Ion (O²⁻)

Protons             8                       8

Electrons          8                      10

Neutrons          8                       8         ← only for the oxygen-16 isotope.

* The number of neutrons depends on the specific isotope. It is equal to the mass number of the isotope less the number of protons.

Explanation:

Oxygen is the element with atomic number 8. That means that the oxygen atoms have 8 protons.

Protons have relative positive charge equal to +1 and electrons have relative negative charge -1: same magnitude opposite sign.

Thus, the neutral oxygen, O, has also 8 electrons and 8 protons.

As per the number neutrons it depends on the specific isotope.

The isotopes are identified by the mass number, which is the number of protons plus neutrons. For instance, oxygen-16 isotope has mass number 16, 8 protons and 8 neutrons, while oxygen-15 isotope has mass number 15, 8 protons and 7 neutrons.

Oxide ion O²⁻ is the oxygen ion with -2 charge, meaning that it has 2 more electrons than protons. Then, it has 8 protons and 10 electrons, again the number of neutrons depend of the specific isotope.

The stability of an atoms or ion refers to its trend to remain in the same state or react to form another species. The ions O²⁻ are less stable than the neutral atoms O, because the negative charge will be attracted to any positive ion so ti will react faster than the neutral oxygen atom (O).

After the reaction between sodium borohydride and the ketone is complete, the reaction mixture is treated with water and H2SO4 t
In-s [12.5K]

Answer:

The hydrogen can be gotten from the added Acid or water during "workup".

Explanation:

Basically we can say that the reaction describe in this question is a Reduction reaction because of the chemical compound called sodium borohydride. In the reaction described above we can see that there is a Reduction of ketone to alcohol by the compound; sodium borohydride.

For the reduction Reaction to occur the C-O bond must break so as to enable the formation of O-H bond and C-H bond.

So, "the reaction mixture is treated with water and H2SO4 to produce the desired alcohol", thus, the oxygen will definitely pick up the hydrogen from H2SO4 or H2O.
