Using a straightedge and compass, construct the perpendicular bisector of FG
Maurinko [17]
This is how I learned.
Place a point above the line segment.  Open the compass so that you can create arcs on the line segment.  One arc should intersect on the right side, the other on the left.  Name these points (A and B, for example). Move the compass to one point.  Use the same radius in the compass<em /><em /> and make an arc below the line segment.  Then move the compass to the opposite point and make another arc (with the same radius).  The two arcs should intersect.  Draw a line from the point above the line segment to the new intersection and you have your perpendicular bisector.

harmaine spent a total of $20 at the grocery store. Of this amount, $9 she spent on fruit. What percentage of the total did she
zheka24 [161]

Answer:

45%

Step-by-step explanation:

First, let's set up a fraction of how much money she spent for fruit out of the total amount of money she spent.

\frac{9}{20}

For a percentage, we need a fraction out of 100. To do this, we can multiply  the fraction by 5/5 (5*20=100). Notice we can only do this since 5/5 is equivalent to 1, so you are technically multiplying the fraction by 1.

\frac{9}{20}*\frac{5}{5}=\frac{45}{100}

A percentage is just the numerator of a number over 100 therefore it is equal to...

Ten less than 5 times the value of a number is equal to 10 times the quantity of
grandymaker [24]

Answer:

52

Step-by-step explanation:

given that the number is a

The expression for Ten less than 5 times the value of a number is given by

5a - 10

10 times the quantity of  12 more than one-fourth of the number.

a/4 is one-fourth  of number

12 more than one-fourth of the number

a/4 + 12

expression for  10 times the quantity of  12 more than one-fourth of the number. is given by

10(a/4 + 12) = 10a/4 + 12*10 = 2.5a + 120

Given that the above two expression are equal

equating them we have

5a - 10 = 2.5a + 120

adding 10 both sides

=>5a - 10+ 10  = 2.5a + 120 + 10

=> 5a = 2.5a + 130

subtracting 2.5a from both sides

=> 5a - 2.5a = 2.5a + 130 - 2.5a

=> 2.5a = 130

dividing both side by 2.5

=> a = 130/2.5 = 52

Thus, value of a is 52
