1) A puppy eats a sausage 5 seconds faster than a kitten eats an identical sausage. If they share one sausage, they can eat it i

n 6 seconds. How long does it take each animal to eat a sausage alone?
2) A tourist ignores the warning signs and leaves food in his car while he goes for a hike. A mama bear and her cub open the car door in 6 seconds. How long would it take each bear to open the car door alone if the cub needs 9 more seconds than the mama bear?

3) A superhero and his sidekick simultaneously leave the city and fly toward a secret hideout that is 1800 km away. The superhero's speed is 100 km/h slower than the sidekick's speed, and so he arrives at the hideout 36 minutes after his sidekick. Find the speed of each.

4) A bear loves visiting his friend, the piglet. The distance between their houses is 300m, and the bear always walks from his house to the piglet's house in exactly the same amount of time. But today, the bear stops at a beehive after walking 1/4 of the distance. He eats honey for 2.5 minutes and then continues to the piglet's house at a speed 15 m/min faster than usual. The total journey to the piglet's house takes the exact same amount of time as it usually does, when the bear does not stop for honey. How long does the journey take?

Answer:

1) The puppy takes 10 minutes, the kitty takes 15 minutes.

2) The mama bear takes 9 minutes, the cub takes 18 minutes

3) The sidekick goes at 600 mph, the hero goes at 500 mph.

4) 10 Minutes

5) RSM is so hard, amiright?

Step-by-step explanation:

1) You can simplify the word problem into the equation 1/x + 1/x+5 = 1/6.    For problems like these, you have to simplify the last part to a fraction, not a whole number.   Then you just solve.

2) Same thing.  1/x + 1/x+9 = 1/6.   Solve.  Boom.  Done.

3) A bit different, but it simplifies to 1800/x-100 - 1800/x = .6.   Solve.   C'mon, you should've been able to do this one.

4) Harder, simplifies to 75/x+225/x+15+2.5 = 300/x.   You get the last part because the time the bear took is equal to the time it would normally take, which is the entire distance over the normal pace.   Then you solve and there we go, most of your RSM homework is done.

Which of the following options have the same value as 30\%30%30, percent of 818181?
Nataly_w [17]

Answer:

Option B is correct = 0.3 \times 81

Step-by-step explanation:

<u>The complete question is:</u> Which of the following options have the same value as 30% of 81?

Group of choices is:

(A) \frac{30}{100}\times 81 \times 100

(B) 0.3 \times 81

(C) 0.03 \times 81

(D) \frac{3}{10}\times 81 \times 10

(E) 30 \times 81

Now, the expression given to us is 30% of 81.

Simplifying the above expression we get;

   30% of 81  =  \frac{30}{100} \times 81

                     =  \frac{3}{10} \times 81  =  0.3 \times 81

Now, we will solve each of the given options and then see which option matches with our calculation.

Option (A) is given;

\frac{30}{100}\times 81 \times 100  =  30 \times 81

This doesn't match with our answer, so this option is not correct.

Option (B) is given;

0.3 \times 81

<u><em>This matches with our answer, so this option is correct.</em></u>

Option (C) is given;

0.03 \times 81

This doesn't match with our answer, so this option is not correct.

Option (D) is given;

\frac{3}{10}\times 81 \times 10  =  3 \times 81

This doesn't match with our answer, so this option is not correct.

Option (E) is given;

30 \times 81

This doesn't match with our answer, so this option is not correct.

Write the quadratic function f(x) = x2 - 5x + 3 in vertex form. Complete the square to determine the maximum or minimum value of
enyata [817]

Answer:

a). Vertex form f the function f(x) = (x - 2.5)²+3.25

b). Maximum value of the function is (-3)

Step-by-step explanation:

a). f(x) = x² - 5x + 3

we have to write this function in the vertex form.

f(x) = x² - 2(2.5)x + 3

    = [(1)²x²- 2(2.5)x + (2.5)²-(2.5)²] + 3

    = (x - 2.5)²- 6.25 + 3

    = (x - 2.5)² - 3.25

So the vertex for of the function is

f(x) = (x - 2.5)² - 3.25

b). Given quadratic function f(x) = -x² - 6x + 6 is in the standard form of f(x) = ax² + bx + c.

By comparing the coefficients of both the functions,

a = -1, b = 6 and c = 6

Here the value of a is negative, therefore, the given parabola is opening downwards.

And the maximum will occur at

x=-\frac{b}{2a}

When we plug in the values,

x=-\frac{6}{2(-1)}

x = 3

Now to get the value of maximum of the function we will get the value of f(3).

f(3) = -(3)²- 6(3) + 6

f(3) = 9 - 18 + 6

f(3) = -3

Therefore, maximum value of the quadratic function is (-3).

The figures are similar. What is the value of x?
Citrus2011 [14]

Answer: The answer is 18

Step-by-step explanation:

The figures are the same shape, just one is longer. As you can see, the smallest side on the smaller figure is 3 inches. If you look at the larger figure, the smallest side is 6 inches. From this, you can see that you are supposed to multiply the lengths on the smaller figure by 2, to the lengths for the larger figure.
