A 10-kg block (B) sits on a table. A 6.0-kg block (A) sits on top of the 10-kg block. If there is nothing on top of the 6.0-kg b

lock, what is the force that the table exerts on the 10-kg block? F = N.

Well if Block A is on top of Block B, then the total mass is the sum of Block A and Block B. Therefore the total mass is 16kg. Since the blocks are not moving, the force of gravity is equal to the normal force.

F_{g} = F_{N}

F_{g}=(16kg)*(9.806 \frac{m}{s^2} )= 156.896N

F_{N} = 156.896N

An automobile engine has an efficiency of 19.0%. If it produces 23.0 kJ of mechanical work per second, the heat rejected per sec
creativ13 [48]

Answer:

(e) 98,1 KJ

Explanation:

The engine produces 19%; it means, it rejects 81% of energy. ⇒ 81/19=4.26 times.

The engine produces 23 kJ; it means it rejects 23 * 4.26 = 98.05263 kJ

A 1kg ball is dropped (from rest) 100m onto a spring with spring constant 125N/m. How much does the spring compress?
Anastasy [175]

Answer:

3.95 m

Explanation:

m = 1 kg, h = 100 m, k = 125 N/m

Let the spring is compressed by y.

Use the conservation of energy

potential energy of the mass is equal to the energy stored in the spring

m x g x h = 1/2 x ky^2

1 x 9.8 x 100 = 0.5 x 125 x y^2

y^2 = 15.68

y = 3.95 m
