Answer:

Environment and competition is the leading cause of evolution. It's an instinct to want to live, but trying to survive is difficult when other animals have the same goal. An ecosystem is a cycle, but every generation of this ecosystem slightly changes, and so do the animals. Every bug that has fitness can start overpopulating the ecosystem, leading to a surge of resources for what preys on the bug. Now bird's population goes up, so do other animal populations. Or the bug becomes an invasive species, and birds are being hunted too often to decrease the population.

In a different scenario, bugs are evolving because of the selection pressure that the environment is giving them. The birds have become better over the generation, and now have a more suited beak to catch the bug off the ground. The bug population maybe be decreasing, but the ones who live through the crisis are populating with bugs that certain gene that helped them out. But it's not over, the bug population isn't declining but it wasn't as big as it was before. The bird will find more ways to find and capture the bugs. But then bugs will keep surviving through the selection pressure and become much harder to find since they figured out camouflage. The bug that was neon yellow was dying since they were easy to see. Now they can range from green to black to hide in the environment. Now the birds are facing the selection pressure, it's a cycle.

What are some of the limitations that natural selection has on the ecosystem?
Novay_Z [31]
Limits to variation The most obvious limit to natural selection is that suitable variation may not be available. This may be because certain phenotypes cannot be built, being ruled out either by physical law or by the properties of biological materials.

Why do all objects on the celestial sphere rise in the east and set in the west? (this answer requires much more detail than jus
arsen [322]
The rotation of the earth is in an eastward manner. This means that, if viewed from the north pole, the earth rotates counterclockwise. This means that curvature of the earth blocks all objects that are in the west, while objects in the east are seen to rise as the earth rotates. Imagine this as a stick figure on a tennis ball. If the ball is rotated, the direction in which the ball rotates will be the one in which objects "rise" for the stick figure, while the direction opposite to rotation direction will be where the objects "set".

How much carbon (in g/m2) is released into the atmosphere as a result of the metabolic activity of herbivores? give your answer
yuradex [85]
I think about 60 g/m^2 is released into the atmosphere as a result of the metabolic activity of herbivores. Metabolism is the sum of the chemical reactions that take place within a cell of a living organisms and that provide energy energy for vital processes and also for synthesizing new organic material. In herbivores, cellular respiration is the major process that releases carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.
