y\cdot \:2\frac{1}{2} = 2\frac{1}{2}=\frac{2\cdot 2+1}{2}=\frac{5}{2} =\frac{5y}{2}

a) 2y+\frac{1}{2}=\frac{4y+1}{2}

b) 2y+\frac{1}{2}y=\frac{5y}{2}

<h3><em>So b) is the expression that is equivallent.</em></h3><h3><em></em></h3><h3><em></em></h3><h3><em>Hope I helped you!</em></h3><h3><em>Success!</em></h3>

Write 11 times 47 using the distributive property. Then simplify.
Simora [160]

Distributive property is in the form of:<span>

a (b+c) = ab + bc</span>

<span>

In this case, we try writing 47 as:</span>

47 = 50-3  or 47 = 40+7

Therefore:<span>

11 x 47 = 11 x (50-3) = 11 x 50 - 11 x 3 = 550 - 33 =  517

or

<span>11 x 47 =  11 x (40+7) = 11 x 40 + 11 x 7 = 440 + 77 = 517</span></span>

Show that f(x)=(x-2)^3+8 is one to one algebraically
Lelu [443]
What im thinking is this: F(a) = f(b) so have 2 equations written and plug a into one and b in the other

(a-2)^3+8   = a^3-8+8 = a^3

                                             =            a^3 = b^3 square root both side = a=b
 <span>(b-2)^3+8  = b^3-8+8 = b^3

Thus it is 1:1.</span>

For exercise, mr.harris walked 1 and 3 fourths miles 5 times last week.how many miles did he walk in all?
RUDIKE [14]
Well, if he walked one and three fourths miles five times, all you have to do is multiply one and three fourths and five to get your answer.

1 \frac{3}{4}*5 \\  \\  \frac{7}{4}* \frac{5}{1}    \\  \\  \frac{7*5}{4*1}  \\  \\  \frac{35}{4} =8 \frac{3}{4}

Which is bigger, 7/8" or 9/16"?
Iteru [2.4K]
7/8 and 9/16

7*2/8*2 = 14/16

14/16 and 9/16

Now since we have a common denominator, we can compare the numerators.

14/16 is greater, so 7/8 is greater than 9/16

Answer: 7/8 is bigger
