First come up with the decimal number

7.461

Then determine how many times the decimal point needs to move

7.461

0.7461

0.07461

... and you keep going and end up moving the point 11 times

so the answer is 7.461ˣ, where x=11

i couldn't figure out how to write 7.461 to the 11th power...

0.000 000 000 074 61 = 7.461 × 10^(-11)

A number in scientific notation has the form <em>N</em> × 10^<em>a</em> where

<em>N</em> = the coefficient and 1 ≤ N <1  and

<em>a</em> = the exponent and is an integer

<em>Step 1.</em> Find the <em>coefficient</em>.

Move the decimal point <em>to the right</em> until you get a coefficient between 1

and 10.

The coefficient becomes <em>7.461.</em>

<em>Step 2</em>. Determine the <em>exponent</em>.

The exponent is the negative of the <em>number of places</em> you moved the decimal point.

You had to move the decimal point 11 places, so the exponent is <em>-11.</em>

<em>Step 3</em>. Write the number in <em>scientific notation</em>.

0.000 000 000 074 61 = 7.461 × 10^(-11)

How many grams of mgo are produced during an enthalpy change of -231 kj ?
SCORPION-xisa [38]

The reaction for the formation of MgO(s):

2 Mg (s) + O2(g) -à 2MgO(s)                     ΔH = -601.24 kJ/mol

<span>The enthalpy information is taken from: http://webbook.nist.gov/cgi/inchi?ID=C1309484&Mask=2</span>

From the equation and with an enthalpy change of -231 kJ:

-231 kJ * 2 mol Mg * (1/-601.24 kJ/mol) = 0.76841 mol Mg

Then, with the molar mass of MgO = 40.3,

0.76841 mol Mg *(2 mol MgO/2 mol Mg)* 40.3 g/mol MgO = <span>30.967 g MgO</span>

How many moles are in 128.9 grams of Cr2(SO3)2?
Dominik [7]

Answer: 0.5 moles

Explanation:

Cr2(SO3)2 is the chemical formula for chromium sulphate.

Given that,

Amount of moles of Cr2(SO3)2 (n) = ?

Mass of Cr2(SO3)2 in grams = 128.9g

For molar mass of Cr2(SO3)2, use the atomic masses:

Chromium, Cr = 52g;

Sulphur, S = 32g;

Oxygen, O = 16g

Cr2(SO3)2 =

(52g x 2) + [(32g + 16g x 3) x 2]

= 104g + [(32g + 48g) x 2]

= 104g + [80g x 2]

= 104g + 160g

= 264g/mol

Since, n = mass in grams / molar mass

n = 128.9g / 264g/mol

n = 0.488 mole [Round the value of n to the nearest tenth which is 0.5

Thus, there are 0.5 moles in 128.9 grams of Cr2(SO3)2

A gas has a pressure of 3.16 atm at STP. I have decided to transfer it to a container that is 3 times larger than the original v
Oliga [24]

Answer:

<u>The new pressure is 1.0533 atm</u>

<u></u>

Explanation:

According  to<u> Boyle's Law :</u> The Pressure of fixed amount of gas is inversely proportional to Volume at constant temperature.

PV = Constant

P1V1 = P2V2

P_{1}V_{1}=P_{2}V_{2}.....(1)

P1 = 3.16 atm

Accprding to question ,

V1 = V

V2 = 3 V

Insert the value of V1 , V2 and P1 in the equation(1)

P_{1}V_{1}=P_{2}V_{2}

3.16\times V=P_{2}\times 3V

V and V cancel each other

3.16=P_{2}\times 3

P_{2}=\frac{3.16}{3}

P_{2}=1.05atm
