Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

this is a simultaneous equation question

f(1)=8  so  a(1) + b = 8

f(4)=17 so a(4) + b = 17

can you figure this out from here ???

if you can't below is how to solve it

a + b = 8

4a+b=17

multiply the top equation by 4 and then subtract the bottom one from the top

4a+4b = 32

-(4a +b = 17)

3b = 15

b=5

now plug 5 into the first equation

a + 5 = 8

a=3

there you go :)

Which number is irrational?<br> A. 2.9<br> B. 17<br> C.-3.1415<br> D.3/11
Masja [62]

Answer:

Answer is C

Step-by-step explanation:

-Non terminating

-Non repeating

So it's irrational. You can find out which decimal are irrational by seeing if they end or if they repeat with a number. 2.9 terminates, 17 terminates, and 3/11 (0.2727...) doesn't terminate but repeats, so they're all rational

The library at a certain university reported that journal prices had increased by 130% over a period of 10 years. The report con
goldenfox [79]

Answer:

300%

Step-by-step explanation:

Here we have an exponential function, y=ab^xand it is one of the most important functions in the mathematics. In this case, the independet variable is the exponent.

Here we have that represented price increase of 13% each year, which means that b=1.13>1  in our exponential function, while a represent the journal price at the begining.

So we get the following function:

y=a(1.13)^x,\\

where x represents number of years. After 10 years, we get:

y=a(1.13)^{10}=3.395a

The conclusion is that over 10 years, the percentage of increase would be about 300%.
