Answer:

0.11mol/dm³

Explanation:

The reaction expression is given as:

             HCl   +  NaOH  →  NaCl + H₂O

Volume of acid  = 25cm³  = 0.025dm³

Volume of base  = 18.4cm³ = 0.0184dm³

Concentration of base  = 0.15mol/dm³

Solution:

The concentration of hydrochloric acid = ?

To solve this problem, let us first find the number of moles of the base;

Number of moles = concentration x volume

Number of moles  = 0.15mol/dm³ x 0.0184dm³  = 0.00276mol

From the balanced reaction equation;

          1 mole of NaOH will combine with 1 mole of HCl

Therefore, 0.00276mol of the base will combine with 0.00276mol of HCl

So;

  Concentration of acid  = \frac{number of moles }{volume}   = \frac{ 0.00276}{0.025}   = 0.11mol/dm³

What is produced at each electrode in the electrolysis of agf(aq)?
Rzqust [24]
AgF consists of Ag+ and F- ions, which are fully dissociated in aqueous solution. When solving electrolysis problems, it is important to remember that water itself may also be a subject to electrolysis. Therefore, determining which species is oxidized and which species is reduced depends on selecting the processes that are the most energetically favorable. The most preferred reduction reaction will be Ag+ + e- = Ag (Emf=0.7996 V) which will occur at the cathode, on the other hand, the most favorable oxidation reaction will be
2H2O = O2 +4H+ + 4e- (Emf = -1.3 V) that will occur at the anode. Thus, the product at the anode is oxygen gas and at the cathode electrode is silver metal.

HELP PLEASE! :(
BabaBlast [244]

Answer:

Part 1: W = 116 Y = 163

Part 2: Since 232 is the mailing point of 2 kg then you would divide 232 by 2 to get the melting point for 1 kg, the same with Y.

What is the transfer of electrons in Al + Cl = AlCl3
otez555 [7]

Answer:

3 e⁻ transfer has occurred.

Explanation

This is a redox reaction.

  • Oxidation (loss of electrons or increase in the oxidation state of entity)
  • Reduction (gain of electrons or decrease in the oxidation state of the entity)
  • An element undergoes oxidation or reduction in order to achieve a stable configuration. It can be an octet or duplet configuration. An octet configuration is that of outer shell configuration of noble gas.
  • [Ne]= (1s²) (2s² 2p⁶)

A combination of both the reactions( Half-reactions) leads to a redox reaction.

Let us look at initial configurations of Al and Cl

[Al]= 1s² 2s² 2p⁶ 3s² 3p¹

[Cl]= 1s² 2s² 2p⁶ 3s² 3p⁵

Hence, Al can lose 3 electrons to achieve octet config.

and, Cl can gain 1e to achieve nearest noble gas config. [Ar]

This reaction can be rewritten, by clearly mentioning the oxidation states of all the entities involved.

Al⁰ + Cl⁰ → (Al⁺³)(Cl⁻)₃

Here, Aluminum is undergoing an oxidation(i.e loss of electrons) from: 0→(+3)

Chlorine undergoes a reduction half reaction (i.e gain of electrons) from: 0→(-1). There are 3 such chlorine atoms, hence 3 e⁻ transfer has occurred.

Francine makes several measurements of the mass of a metal block. The data set is shown in the table below.
BARSIC [14]

Answer:

Mean

Explanation:

The mean of a series of measurements is calculated when all the measurements are added up and then divided by the number of measurements taken, as follows:

  • Sum of Measurements = 20.73 + 20.76 + 20.68 + 20.75 = 82.92

As there are 4 measurements, the mean is:

  • Mean = 82.92 / 4 = 20.73

C). If 0.5 mole of oxygen (,) reacted with hydrogen (H2), how many mole of water (H20) was produced
son4ous [18]

Answer:

1 mol of water is produced in those conditions.

Explanation:

The reaction to produce water between H₂ and O₂ is this:

2H₂  +  O₂  →  2H₂O

We don't have the amount of hydrogen, so we have to think that is in excess.

Let's work with oxygen.

Ratio is 1:2

For 0.5 mole of oxygen, I will make the double of moles of water.
