How to separate water from aqueous magnesium sulphate?
Kitty [74]

Answer:

The method generally involves heating a mixture of epsomite and halite to form clusters of lower hydrated magnesium sulfate crystals and subsequently applying slight pressure to the clusters so that they collapse to yield fine, less hydrated magnesium sulfate crystals which can then be easily separated from the ...

Candium forms the ion Sc3+. How many bromite ions could bond with Sc3+, and what would be the chemical formula?
wlad13 [49]

Answer: 3 bromite ions and Sc(BrO_2)_3

Explanation:

For formation of a neutral ionic compound, the charges on cation and anion must be balanced. The cation is formed by loss of electrons by metals and anions are formed by gain of electrons by non metals.

Here scandium is having an oxidation state of +3 called as Sc^{3+} cation and bromite is an anion with oxidation state of -1 called as BrO_2^-. Thus 1 Scandium ion combines with three bromite ions and their oxidation states are exchanged and written in simplest whole number ratios to give neutral Sc(BrO_2)_3

An aqueous solution of an unknown quantity of a nonelectrolyte solute is found to have a freezing point of −0.58°c.what is the m
adell [148]
Depression in freezing point is a colligative property i.e. it depends upon under  of solute particles present in solution.

Depression in freezing point (ΔTf) is mathematically expressed as,
ΔTf = Kf X m        ............... (1)
where Kf = cryoscopic constant
m = molality of solution

If solvent used is water, Kf = 1.853 K Kg/mol and Freezing point of pure solvent = 0 oC
∴ΔTf = 0.58 K         ............... (2)
Substituting 2 in 1 we get
0.58 = 1.853 X m
∴ m = 0.313 m

Thus, molality of solution is 0.313 m
