The kb of hypochlorous acid is 3. 0×10^–8 at 26. 0 C. What is the percent of ionization of hypochlorous?
astraxan [27]

The acid dissociation constant (Ka) defines the difference between a weak and a strong acid. The % ionization of hypochlorous acid is 0.14%.

What is the acid dissociation constant?

The acid dissociation constant is used to define the ionization constant of an acidic substance. It gives the quantitative measurement of the strength.

The ICE table is attached to the image below.

The acid dissociation constant (Ka) for the reaction is,

Ka = [H⁺][ClO⁻] ÷ [HClO]

= a² ÷ (0.015 - a)

= 3.0 x 10⁻⁸

Now, a² + 3.0 x 10⁻⁸ a - 4.5 × 10⁻¹⁰ = 0

So, a = 2.210 × 10⁻⁵

Solving further,

[H+] = a = 2.210 × 10⁻⁵ M

The percent ionization is calculated as,

[H+] ÷ [HClO] × 100

= 2.210 × 10⁻⁵ M ÷ 0.015 × 100

= 0.14 %

Therefore, 0.14 % is the percentage of hypochlorous ionization.

In which phase(s) do the molecules take the shape of the container?
Katen [24]

Answer:

Liquid and gas

Explanation:

Liquid and gas are the phases of matter that take the shape of container.

This is very simple to imagine, if we have a piece of rock and we put it in a container, it will not take the shape of container as it already has a definite shape and volume. Liquid when put in a container takes the shape of container but varies in volume as per the container.

However, the gas phases is the phase of matter that perfectly takes the shape of container and occupies all the volume of container as well.

If we recall Dalton's Law of Partial Pressures we can see that the pressure exerted by the gas components in a container is same like the pressure exerted by the gas alone. These partial pressures of the component of gas combine in such a way that they exert total pressure equal to the constituents' pressure on the container. This way gases occupy all the volume of a container and take the shape of a container they're placed in.

Hope it help!

The isotope labeling an atom containing 40 protons and 51 neutrons suddenly has two neutrons added to it. What isotope is create
marishachu [46]

I believe the correct answer from the choices listed above is option 2. The isotope of an atom that contains 40 protons and 51 neutrons and suddenly has two neutrons added to it would be Zirconium-93. We look at a periodic table and find the element with the atomic number 40 which equal the number of protons.
