Answer:

True.

Explanation:

There are three ways to make a buffer.

a.  Generating a solution of a weak acid and its conjugate base.

b. Adding to a solution of a weak acid a certain quantity of

strong base, so that the acid remains in excess.

c. adding a limited amount to a conjugate base solution

of strong acid so that the base remains in excess.

We are in c, in this situation.

How do you calculate, pH? We apply Henderson Hasselbach.

pH = pka + log (mmoles base - mmoles acid)/ mmoles acid

pH = pKa + log ((20 ml . 1 M - 1 ml . 10M) / 10 mmoles

pH = 4.76 + log 1 → 4.76 ⇒ pH = pKa

Greeley [361]

Answer:

pKa of the histidine = 9.67

Explanation:

The relation between standard Gibbs energy and equilibrium constant is shown below as:

\Delta{G^0} =-RT \ln \frac{[His]}{[His+]}

R is Gas constant having value = 0.008314 kJ / K mol

Given temperature, T = 293 K

Given, \Delta{G^0}=15\ kJ/mol

So,  Applying in the equation as:-

15\ kJ/mol=-0.008314\ kJ/Kmol\times 293\ K\times \ln \frac{[His]}{[His+]}

Thus,

15\ kJ/mol=-0.008314\ kJ/Kmol\times 293\ K\times \ln \frac{[His]}{[His+]}

\frac{[His]}{[His+]}=e^{\frac{15}{-0.008314\times 293}

\frac{[His]}{[His+]}=0.00211

Also, considering:-

pH=pKa+log\frac{[His]}{[His+]}

Given that:- pH = 7.0

So, 7.0=pKa+log0.00211

<u>pKa of the histidine = 9.67</u>

Give two reasons why the flame test is sometimes invalid
zlopas [31]
The two reason behind the invalidity of flame test are false positive and false negative.
while performing the flame test you must have to be accurate otherwise you will get false results may be positive for some element or may be negative in case the element is present. The main reason to get the false positive and false negative is the presence and contamination of sodium.

Calculate the energy in joules and calories required to heat 25.0 g of water from 12.5C to 25.7C
Alex Ar [27]
The heat (Q) required to raise the temp of a substance is:<span>Q=m∗Cp∗ΔT</span><span> where m is the mass of the object (25.0g in this case), Cp is the specific heat capacity of the substance (for water Cp = 1.00cal/gC, or 4.18J/gC,
and Dt is the change in temp.
You'll have to solve this twice, once with the Cp in calories, and once with the Cp in joules.

How many acidic H+ ion is given by H3BO3 in aqueous solution?? ...?

Boric acid, H3BO3, in aqueous solution would only give out one H+ ion. As it is also produce OH ion and by hydrolysis it produces one proton. <span>All the boron compounds (BX3) are having only 6 valence electrons in it and should follow the octet rule by taking another electron.</span>

What are columns on the periodic table called? What is the significance of the columns on the periodic table?
chubhunter [2.5K]

Answer:

The vertical columns of the periodic table are called groups, or families. The significance is elements with similar properties are placed in the same vertical columns. The horizontal rows of the periodic table are called periods. The significance is that properties vary from left to right along the rows.

Explanation:

We just did this in science
