The chemical elements are arranged in order of increasing atomic number. The horizontal rows are called periods and the vertical columns are called groups. Elements in the same group have similar chemical properties. This is because they have the same number of outer electrons and the same valency. Atomic radius patterns are observed throughout the periodic table. Atomic size gradually decreases from left to right across a period of elements. This is because, within a period or family of elements, all electrons are added to the same shell. As a result, the atomic radius decreases. That is a science method reasoning on why it lost its freedom, hope this helps!
