Water with a flowrate of 1 m3/min and benzene concentration of 150 mg/L flows through a 10 meter long, 0.1 m diameter steady sta

te and conservative PFR, after which it is fed into a CMFR with a volume of 100 m3. A second water stream with a flowrate of 0.5 m3/min and benzene concentration of 150 mg/L is also fed into the CMFR. The CMFR is steady state and conservative. Calculate the effluent concentration of the CMFR.

Answer:

the effluent concentration of the CMFR is 150 mg/L

Explanation:

Given that;

flowrate of first water Q₁ = 1 m³/min

benzene concentration C₁ = 150 mg/L

flowrate of second water Q₂ = 0.5 m3/min

benzene concentration C₂ =  150 mg/L

To Calculate the effluent concentration of the CMFR, we use the expression;

C_{effluent} = (Q₁C₁ + Q₂C₂) / Q₁ + Q₂

we substitute

C_{effluent} = (1 × 150 + 0.5 × 150) / 1 + 0.5

C_{effluent} = 225 / 1.5

C_{effluent} = 150 mg/L

Therefore, the effluent concentration of the CMFR is 150 mg/L

What is test for ions?
fomenos
It is possible to use a flame test to detect the presence of an alkali metal ion. A cleaned, moistened flame test wire is dipped into a solid sample of the compound. It is then put into the edge of a blue Bunsen flame. The flame colour produced indicates which alkali metal ion is present in the compound.

What makes a metal and a non metal most
Katarina [22]

Answer:

Explanation:

The reactivity of elements in the periodic table is based on the number of electrons in there outermost shell. Elements (metals) that have few electrons in there outermost shell are highly reactive because it is easier to lose fewer number of electrons (in the outermost shell during a reaction) than to lose more electrons in the outermost shell - thus metals that have one electron in there outermost shell are most reactive and are more reactive than those that have two electrons in there outermost shell. Hence, metals in group 1 are the most reactive metals because they all have one electron in there outermost shell.

Non-metals that have fewer electrons to complete there octet configuration are highly reactive because it is easier to gain fewer number of electrons (in the outermost shell during a reaction) than to gain more number of electrons - thus nonmetals that have seven electrons in there outermost shell are more reactive than nonmetals that have six electrons in there outermost shell. Hence, nonmetals in group 17 are the most reactive nonmetals because they contain seven electrons and have just one electron left to complete there octet configuration.

H2O is polar covalent or its Hydrogen bond??? PLEASE HELP!!!
Annette [7]

Answer:

Polar covalent.

Explanation:

The covalent bonds are therefore polar, and the oxygen atoms have a slight negative charge (from the presence extra electron share), while the hydrogens are slightly positive (from the extra un-neutralized protons). Opposite charges attract one another.

Which of the aforement unique characteristics of earth do you like the most and why?
Viefleur [7K]

Answer:

The Earth rotates on its axis at a constant tilt.

Earths rotation on its axis at a constant tilt provides seasonal changes in the different part of the country. This resulted to the distribution of the heat of the sun from northern hemisphere and to southern hemisphere. Making areas with hot temperature may experience rainy season in a year. This will help production of crops or food supply and water supply available for living organism.

If the Earth's rotation is not tilted, then both the northern hemisphere and southern hemisphere will be covered with thick ice sheet. The equatorial region or near the equatorial region will experience tremendous warm temperature. Making our life on Earth not ideal for living.

Magnetic Field

Earth is protected by the magnetic from the dangerous radiation coming from the heat of the sun.

Water and oxygen

These two elements are essential for living organism in order to survive. The existence of waters proves that Earth temperature is conducive for living.
