The question is incomplete, the complete question is;

A track meet is scheduled to be held in a city that is at high altitude.  One of the runners lives near a beach.  To improve her chances of winning a medal, the runner decides to train for a number of weeks in the mountains.  She hopes that this will increase her number of red blood cells.  Which function of the circulatory system does she hope to improve?

delivery of disease-fighting cells to body tissue

delivery of oxygen to body tissues

delivery of blood-clotting materials to body tissues

delivery of nutrients to body tissue

Answer:

delivery of oxygen to body tissues

Explanation:

We all know that pressure decreases with height. At a higher altitude, the pressure of air is much lower. This causes breathing difficulty especially during a strenuous activity such as athletics.

At high altitude the breathing rate doubles. Also, additional red blood cells and capillaries are produced to carry more oxygen, delivering more oxygen to body tissues.  The lungs as well increases in size.

This acclimatization to high altitude increases the level of endurance of athletes and gives them comparative advantage at sporting events.

What is the energy released in this β − β − nuclear reaction 40 19 K → 40 20 C a + 0 − 1 e 19 40 K → 20 40 C a + − 1 0 e ? (The
Effectus [21]

<u>Answer:</u> The energy released in the given nuclear reaction is 1.3106 MeV.

<u>Explanation:</u>

For the given nuclear reaction:

_{19}^{40}\textrm{K}\rightarrow _{20}^{40}\textrm{Ca}+_{-1}^{0}\textrm{e}

We are given:

Mass of _{19}^{40}\textrm{K} = 39.963998 u

Mass of _{20}^{40}\textrm{Ca} = 39.962591 u

To calculate the mass defect, we use the equation:

\Delta m=\text{Mass of reactants}-\text{Mass of products}

Putting values in above equation, we get:

\Delta m=(39.963998-39.962591)=0.001407u

To calculate the energy released, we use the equation:

E=\Delta mc^2\\E=(0.001407u)\times c^2

E=(0.001407u)\times (931.5MeV)    (Conversion factor:  1u=931.5MeV/c^2  )

E=1.3106MeV

Hence, the energy released in the given nuclear reaction is 1.3106 MeV.

Describe the physical and chemical weathering
Stella [2.4K]

Answer:

Physical weathering is caused by purely mechanical changes to the rock, while chemical weathering is caused by chemical reactions.

Explanation:

Chemical weathering happens when the chemicals get diluted and dissolved in water and seep and percolate down the rock surfaces.

Physical weathering happens when rocks are fragmented into minor fragments while ensuring no alterations in their chemical makeup. The main causes behind physical weathering include spontaneous fluctuations in temperature like too high or too low heat or cold
