The amount of time the husband and the wife spend on house work is measured for 15 women and their 15 husbands. For the wives th

e mean was 7 hours/week and for the husbands the mean was 4.5 hours/week. The standard deviation of the differences in time spent on house work was 2.85. What is the value of the test statistic for testing the difference in mean time spent on housework between husbands and wives

Answer:

The value of the test statistic is z = -0.877.

Step-by-step explanation:

Testing the difference in mean time spent on housework between husbands and wives.

At the null hypothesis, we test if there is no difference, that is, the subtraction of the means is 0:

H_0: \mu_H - \mu_W = 0

At the alternate hypothesis, we test if there is a difference, that is, the subtraction of the means is different from 0.

H_1: \mu_H - \mu_W \neq 0

The test statistic is:

z = \frac{X - \mu}{s}

In which X is the sample mean, \mu is the value tested at the null hypothesis, and s is the standard error.

0 is tested at the null hypothesis:

This means that \mu = 0

For the wives the mean was 7 hours/week and for the husbands the mean was 4.5 hours/week. The standard deviation of the differences in time spent on house work was 2.85.

This means that X = 4.5 - 7 = -2.5, s = 2.85

What is the value of the test statistic for testing the difference in mean time spent on housework between husbands and wives?

z = \frac{X - \mu}{s}

z = \frac{-2.5 - 0}{2.85}

z = -0.877

The value of the test statistic is z = -0.877.

(9.1 × 109)(7.5 × 102) What is the exponent of the power in scientific notation?
sergejj [24]

Answer:

= The exponent is 12

Step-by-step explanation:

(9.1 × 10^9)(7.5 × 10^2)

When multiplying terms in scientific notation, we multiply the numbers in front and add the exponents

(a* 10^b) (c* 10^d) = ac * 10^(b+d)

(9.1 × 10^9)(7.5 × 10^2) = (9.1*7.5) * 10^(9+2)

                                      =68.25 * 10^11

But this is not proper scientific notation.  We can only have 1 number in front of the decimal.  We need to move the decimal 1 place to the right.  That adds 1 to the exponent.

   =68.25 * 10^11  = 6.825 * 10^(11+1)

                             = 6.825 * 10^12

Hi there can anyone help me out with this please please please
ivolga24 [154]
So how you wold do this problem, would be to count how many numbers fit into each category and type in that value in the according box.
So for 35-44 you would have 1 because only 1 of the values is between 35 and 44.
For 45-54 you would have 19 because there are 19 values that fit into that category.
Just continue that trend for the rest of the categories and you will have your answer!

What is the diameter of the following?
Tamiku [17]

Answer:

12

Step-by-step explanation:

The equation of a circle in standard form is

(x - h)² + (y - k)² = r²

where (h, k) are the coordinates of the centre and r is the radius

(x - 9)² + (y - 4)² = 36 ← is in standard form

with r² = 36 ⇒ r = \sqrt{36} = 6

diameter = 2 × r = 2 × 6 = 12
