Tammy bought 6 CDs that were each the same price. Including sales tax, she paid a total of $94.80. Each CD had a tax of $0.05. W
kolezko [41]

Answer:

$15.75

Step-by-step explanation:

first, figure out the value of the tax. that would be 0.30 because there are 6 cds, and each has a tax of 0.05. next, subtract the tax from the total. that would be 94.50. this gives us the price of the cds alone. lastly, divide the toal by 6. 94.50/6=15.75.

p = price

0.63 = price of each piece of chocolate

c = number of pieces of chocolate

Needs to show work.<br> Find the X intercept and the Y intercept for 2x-6y=12
liberstina [14]

Answer:

x: (6,0)

y: (0,-2)

Step-by-step explanation:

To find the x-intercept, substitute in  0  for  y  and solve for  x . To find the y intercept, substitute in  0  for  x  and solve for  y .

Ex -

X : 2x -6(0)=12

2x=12

2 cancels out with 2

12/2 = 6

Y: 2(0 )- 6y =12

-6y=12

negative 6 times negative 6 cancels

12/-6 = -2

If m(x)=x+5/x-1 and n(x)=x-3 which function has the same domain as (m•n)(x)
worty [1.4K]
Consider the functions m and n:

i) m(x)=\frac{x+5}{x-1}   for x≠1.

the domain of m is  all the real numbers except 1.

ii) n(x)=x-3 is a polynomial function, because x-3 is a linear polynomial.

The domain of any polynomial function is all real numbers. To determine the Range of this function, let c be a value in the range:

x-3=c, then x=3+c.

so if we want the function to produce c, we just set x=3+c, check:

n(3+c)=(3+c)-3=c.

This means that the Range of n is all real numbers.

What this means, is that the input (x) of the function n(x) can be any real number, and the output (n(x)) can also be any number.

so let n(x)=a, consider m(a):

m(a)=(a+5)/(a-1), clearly a≠1, this means n(x)=x-3≠1, that is x≠-4

This means that the domain of the composed function, m(n(x)) =  say f(x),

is all Real numbers except 4.

Check: letting x be 4, would mean n(4)=4-3=1

which would mean m(n(4))=m(1)=(1+5)/(1-1)=6/0, which makes no sense.

Ira Lisetskai [31]

Answer:

  see below

Step-by-step explanation:

Use the distributive property:

  (y^2 +3y +7)(8y^2 +y +1)

  = y^2(8y^2 +y +1) +3y(8y^2 +y +1) +7(8y^2 +y +1)

  = 8y^4 +y^3 +y^2 + 24y^3 +3y^2 +3y + 56y^2 +7y +7

  = 8y^4 +y^3(1 +24) +y^2(1 +3 +56) +y(3 +7) +7

  = 8y^4 +25y^3 +60y^2 +10y +7 . . . . . matches the last choice
