Chemistry

1.A two face mixture is a type of mixture in which the components of the mixture are in different states of matter. A good example of a two face mixture is carbonated soft drink. Carbonated soft drink is a mixture of carbon dioxide [which is a gas] and water [which is a liquid]. Another example of a two face mixture is the the mixture of iodine and sodium solution.

2. To separate the mixture of iodine and sodium solution the best separation method to use is sublimation.
Sublimation process is used to separate mixtures in which one of the component of the mixture can translate from the solid state to the gaseous state without passing through the liquid state. An example of a solid which can sublime is iodine.
The sublimation process involves heating the mixture. On heating, the sublime solid will turn to vapour and escape from the mixture leaving behind the other component. The sublime component will be regained when it cools down.

Why is it useful to model systems that use energy?
Airida [17]

Answer:

Energy modelling can be described as a system to make simulations or computerized models of systems which use energy. This makes it easier to analyze and access such systems which use energy. By this approach, there are lesser chances for the energy to be wasted and fewer chances for any energy-related experiments to go wrong. As such kind of experiments can be dangerous hence it is essential that models be made first.

Which is a characteristic of aromatic hydrocarbons?
Jlenok [28]

Answer:

A. Alternating single and double bonds

Explanation:

Hydrocarbons i.e. hydrogen and carbon containing compounds, are grouped into two namely: aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons. Aliphatic hydrocarbons contains straight or branched chains of carbon and hydrogen atoms in their structure e.g. alkanes, alkenes etc.

On the other hand, aromatic hydrocarbons are cyclic hydrocarbons containing one or more cyclic rings. The benzene ring is the basis of all aromatic hydrocarbons and one characteristics of benzene is that it possesses an alternating single (-) and double bonds (=) in their structure.

Since benzene is a building constituent of aromatic hydrocarbons, an "alternating single and double bond" is a characteristics of aromatic hydrocarbons.

the mass concentration the mass concentration for a solution containing 45 g of calcium carbonate is 100 cm3
OverLord2011 [107]

Answer: The mass concentration for a solution containing 45 g of calcium carbonate for 100 cm^{3} is 0.045 M.

Explanation:

Given: Mass of calcium carbonate = 45 g

Volume = 100 cm^{3}

Convert cm^{3} into L as follows.

1 cm^{3} = 0.001 L\\100 cm^{3} = 100 cm^{3} \times \frac{0.001 L}{1 cm^{3}}\\= 0.1 L

Moles of calcium carbonate (molar mass = 100 g/mol) is as follows.

No. of moles = \frac{45 g}{100 g/mol}\\= 0.45 mol

Molarity is the number of moles of solute present in a liter of solution.

Hence, molarity (or mass concentration) of given solution is calculated as follows.

Molarity = \frac{no. of moles}{Volume (in L)}\\= \frac{0.45 mol}{0.1 L}\\= 0.045 M

Thus, we can conclude that the mass concentration for a solution containing 45 g of calcium carbonate for 100 cm^{3} is 0.045 M.
