What is the theoretical yield of something if 20g are formed with a 10% yield

Chemistry

Sauron [17]2 years ago

To predict the theoretical yield we would have to know the amount we of product we actually produced in a reaction, and the amount that should have been produced based on calculations involving the balanced equation for the reaction.

For instance, suppose we made water from hydrogen and oxygen. Starting with 2 moles of hydrogen and 1 mole of oxygen we should produce 2 moles of water (or 36 gram). But suppose we actually ran the reaction in the lab and collected only 34g of water.

The percent yield would be 34g / 36g x 100 =94.4%

So, if I'm reading your question correctly, 20g is the experimental yield and 10% is the percent yield.

Plugging in gives us 10/100 = 20/x

The theoretical yield must be 200g.

Covert from scientific notation
1.3 x 10¹²=
Lady_Fox [76]

Answer:

1,300,000,000,000

Explanation:

1.3 x 10^12

We want to convert this from scientific notation.

Tip: in scientific notation the exponent tells you how many place you move the decimal point over. If the exponent is negative you move the decimal point to the left. Ex. For, 4.1 x 10^-8, we would move the decimal point over 8 times to the left to get .00000041. When the exponent is positive we move over to the right. Ex. For, 7.6 x 10^7 we would move the decimal point over 7 times to the right to get 76,000,000

So to convert 1.3 x 10^12 we simply move over the decimal point over 12 times to the right.

1.3 x 10^12 ------> 1,300,000,000,000

Our answer is 1,300,000,000,000

Use the collision theory to explain how increasing the surface area of a solute will increase the rate of the dissolving process
Maksim231197 [3]
More surface area --> more molecules of the solute in contact with the solvent --> more chance for a solvent molecule to collide with the solute molecules --> dissolves faster
