A 0.1 kg arrow with an initial velocity of 30 m/s hits a 4.0 kg melon initially at rest on a friction-less surface. The arrow em

erges out the other side of the melon with a speed of 20 m/s. What is the speed of the melon? Why would we normally not expect to see the melon move with the is speed after being hit by the arrow?

Answer:

Speed of the melon = 0.25 m/s

we would normally don't see the melon moving due to friction with the resting surface.

Explanation:

We use conservation of momentum:

Pi = Pf

with Pi = 0.1 kg * 30 m/s = 3 kg m/s

and Pf = 0.1 kg * 20 m/s + 4.0 kg * V = 2 kg m/s + 4 * V

Then using the equality above, we solve for V (velocity of the melon)

3 kg m/s = 2 kg m/s + 4 V

1 kg m/s = 4 kg * V

Then V = 1 / 4  M/s = 0.25 m/s

So we would normally don't see the melon moving due to friction with the resting surface.

A parallel-plate capacitor is made from two aluminum-foil sheets, each 5.9 cm wide and 5.6 m long. Between the sheets is a Teflo
Zarrin [17]

Answer:

1.98 x 10⁻⁷ F

Explanation:

w = width of the sheet = 5.9 cm = 0.059 m

L = length of the sheet = 5.6 m

Area of the sheet is given as

A = L w = (5.6) (0.059) = 0.3304 m²

d = distance between the sheets = 3.1 x 10⁻⁵ m

k = dielectric constant of teflon = 2.1

Capacitance is given as

C = \frac{k\epsilon _{o}A}{d}

C = \frac{(2.1)(8.85\times 10^{-12})(0.3304)}{3.1\times 10^{-5}}

C = 1.98 x 10⁻⁷ F

High specific heat of the water. Option (c)

What is Specific heat?

The amount of heat required to increase the temperature of one gram of a substance by one degree Celsius is referred to as the substance's specific heat. Typically, calories or joules are used per gram and degree Celsius when referring to the units of specific heat.

The moderate temperature of islands has much to do with the water's high specific heat. The typical off-water is more significant than this clear land or soil. Due to this fact, water absorbs and releases eat more slowly. In comparison to the land.

Hence, the water has high specific heat.

What is the concentration of H^ + at apH = 2 ? Mol / L What is the concentration of H^ + ions at apH = 6 ? Mol/L How many more H
Nonamiya [84]

Answer:

The concentration of hydrogen ion at pH is equal to 2 := [H^+]=0.01 mol/L

The concentration of hydrogen ion at pH is equal to 6 : [H^+]'=0.000001 mol/L

There are 0.009999 more moles of  H^+ ions in a solution at a pH = 2 than in a solution at a pH = 6.

Explanation:

The pH of the solution is the negative logarithm of hydrogen ion concentration in an aqueous solution.

pH=-\log [H^+]

The hydrogen ion concentration at pH is equal to 2 = [H^+]

2=-\log [H^+]\\

[H^+]=10^{-2}M= 0.01 M=0.01 mol/L

The hydrogen ion concentration at pH is equal to 6 = [H^+]

6=-\log [H^+]\\\\

[H^+]=10^{-6}M= 0.000001 M= 0.000001 mol/L

Concentration of hydrogen ion at pH is equal to 2 =[H^+]=0.01 mol/L

Concentration of hydrogen ion at pH is equal to 6 = [H^+]'=0.000001 mol/L

The difference between hydrogen ion concentration at pH 2 and pH 6 :

= [H^+]-[H^+]' = 0.01 mol/L- 0.000001 mol/L = 0.009999 mol/L

Moles of hydrogen ion in 0.009999 mol/L solution :

=0.009999 mol/L\times 1 L=0.009999 mol

There are 0.009999 more moles of  H^+ ions in a solution at a pH = 2 than in a solution at a pH = 6.
