Answer:

a. Momentum A = 280 Kgm/s.

b. Momentum B = 595 Kgm/s.

c. Total momentum = 875 Kgm/s.

Explanation:

Let the two people be A and B respectively.

<u>Given the following data;</u>

Mass A = 70kg

Mass B = 85kg

Velocity A = 4m/s

Velocity B = 7m/s

Momentum can be defined as the multiplication (product) of the mass possessed by an object and its velocity. Momentum is considered to be a vector quantity because it has both magnitude and direction.

Mathematically, momentum is given by the formula;

Momentum = mass * velocity

a. To find the momentum of A;

Momentum \; A = 70 * 4

<em>Momentum A = 280 Kgm/s. </em>

b. To find the momentum of B;

Momentum \; B = 85 * 7

<em>Momentum B = 595 Kgm/s.</em>

c. To find the total momentum of the two persons;

Total \; momentum = Momentum \; A + Momentum \; B

Substituting into the equation, we have;

Total momentum = 280 + 595

<em>Total momentum = 875 Kgm/s</em>.

You are holding a positive charge and there are positive charges of equal magnitude 1 m to your north and 1 m to your east. what
pychu [463]

By holding a positive charge and there are positive charges of equal magnitude 1 m to your north and 1 m to your east. Therefore, the direction of the force on the charge you are holding will be to the southwest.

Let I hold the charge , q at the centre of given co-ordinate system and two positive charge of equal magnitude Q are placed 1 m to my North and 1 m to my South .

now, both the charge are same nature e.g., positive . Let my charge is also positive (well, you can assume negative too , I am considering positive because it makes me easy to solve) then, both charge repel to my charge.

charge Q placed on east is repelling my charge q toward west . similarly charge Q placed on North is repelling my charge q toward south.

Now , use vector for solve it.

vector F_{net} = vector Fe + vector Fn,

⇒ |F_{net}| = \sqrt{}  F^{2} _{e } + F^{2}_n

⇒ Fe = Fs = KqQ/(1m)² = KqQ

⇒ F_{net} = √{Fe² + Fs²} = √{(kqQ)²+(KqQ)²}

⇒ F_{net}= √2KqQ

Hence, net force act on q {my charge } is √2KqQ and the direction of force is S - W (southwest )direction.

When a certain air-filled parallel-plate capacitor is connected across a battery, it acquires a charge of magnitude 172 μC on ea
crimeas [40]

Answer:

k = 2.279

Explanation:

Given:

Magnitude of charge on each plate, Q = 172 μC

Now,

the capacitance, C of a capacitor is given as:

C = Q/V

where,

V is the potential difference

Thus, the capacitance due to the charge of 172 μC will be

C = \frac{(172\ \mu C)}{V}

Now, when the when the additional charge is accumulated

the capacitance (C') will be

C' = \frac{(172+220)\ \mu C)}{V}

or

C' = \frac{(392)\ \mu C)}{V}

now the dielectric constant (k) is given as:

k=\frac{C'}{C}

substituting the values, we get

k=\frac{\frac{(392\ \mu C)}{V}}{\frac{(172)\ \mu C)}{V}}

or

k = 2.279
