What is the mass (in g) of carbon in a sample of acetone, CH3COCH3, which also contains 2.45 g of hydrogen?

Chemistry

Answer is: the mass of the carbon is 14.57 grams.

m(H) = 2.45; mass of hydrogen in sample of acetone.

n(H) = m(H) ÷ M(H).

n(H) = 2.45 g ÷ 1.01 g/mol.

n(H) = 2.425 mol; amount of hydrogen.

From molecular formula of acetone: n(C) : n(H) = 3 : 6 (1 : 2).

n(C) = 2.425 mol ÷ 2.

n(C) = 1.212 mol; amount of carbon in the sample.

m(C) = n(C) · M(C).

m(C) = 1.212 mol · 12.01 g/mol.

m(C) = 14.57 g.

What Celsius temperature, T2, is required to change the volume of the gas sample in Part A (T1 = 23 ∘C , V1= 1.69×103 L ) to a v
andrezito [222]

Answer:

319.15^{o}C[/tex]

Explanation:

When all other variables are constant, we are allowed to use the formula

\frac{T_{2} }{V_{2} } = \frac{T_{1} }{V_{1} } \\Which can be rewritten as T_{2} = \frac{T_{1} V_{2} }{V_{1} }if you make T2 the subject of the formula. This formula is true only if temperature is in Kelvin not degrees Celsius so T1 must be converted to KelvinNow to calculate T2[tex]T_{2}= \frac{296.15K*3.38.10^{3}L }{1.69.10^{3}L }= 592.3K = 319.15^{o} C

What is the limiting reactant if 10 moles of NH 3 react with 30.0 moles of NO ?
Elis [28]

Answer:

NO is the limiting reactant.

Explanation:

4NH3 + 6NO --> 5N2 + 6H2O

Molar ration NH3 : NO = 10: 30 = 1: 3

Stoichiometric molar ration NH3:NO = 4:6 = 2:3

NO is the limiting reactant.
