Answer:

The length of the pendulum is 2.954 m.

Explanation:

Given;

period of the pendulum, T = 3.45 s

The period of the pendulum oscillation is given as;

T = 2\pi \sqrt{\frac{l}{g} } \\\\\frac{T}{2\pi} = \sqrt{\frac{l}{g} }\\\\\frac{T^2}{4\pi ^2} = \frac{l}{g} \\\\l = \frac{gT^2}{4\pi ^2} \\\\

where;

L is length of the pendulum

g is acceleration due to gravity on Earth = 9.8 m/s²

l = \frac{gT^2}{4\pi ^2}\\\\l = \frac{(9.8)(3.45)^2}{4\pi ^2}\\\\l = 2.954 \ m

Therefore, the length of the pendulum is 2.954 m.

Comets travel around the sun in elliptical orbits with large eccentricities. If a comet has speed 1.6×104 m/s when at a distance
xz_007 [3.2K]

Answer:

v₂ = 7.6 x 10⁴ m/s

Explanation:

given,

speed of comet(v₁) = 1.6 x 10⁴ m/s

distance (d₁)= 2.7 x 10¹¹ m

to find the speed when he is at distance of(d₂) 4.8 × 10¹⁰ m

v₂ = ?

speed of planet can be determine using conservation of energy

K.E₁ + P.E₁ = K.E₂ + P.E₂

\dfrac{1}{2}mv_1^2-\dfrac{GMm}{r_1} = \dfrac{1}{2}mv_2^2-\dfrac{GMm}{r_2}

\dfrac{1}{2}v_1^2-\dfrac{GM}{r_1} = \dfrac{1}{2}v_2^2-\dfrac{GM}{r_2}

v_2^2= v_1^2 + \dfrac{2GM}{r_2}-\dfrac{2GM}{r_1}

v_2= \sqrt{v_1^2 +2GM(\dfrac{1}{r_2}-\dfrac{1}{r_1})}

v_2= \sqrt{(1.6\times 10^4)^2 +2\times 6.67 \times 10^{-11}\times 1.99 \times 10^{30}(\dfrac{1}{4.8\times 10^{10}}-\dfrac{1}{2.7\times 10^{11}})}

v₂ = 7.6 x 10⁴ m/s

Three out of four crashes happen at a speed of __________ miles per hour or less.
Nitella [24]
<span>The answer is 45 miles per hour or even less. Most crashes occur at a speed of 45 miles per hour or even less, and most of these accidents occur close to our homes. These crashes may also be caused by different factors, such as being drunk or sudden occurrences that are not controllable, which is why it is best to precede with caution when driving at crowded areas.</span>

A sound has a sound level of 30 dB. Its intensity is what multiple of the standard reference level for intensities?
arsen [322]
<h2>Answer:</h2>

1000th multiple of the standard reference level for intensities.

<h2>Explanation:</h2>

The sound intensity level (β), measured in decibels, of a sound with an intensity of I is defined as follows;

β = 10 log (I / I₀)       --------------------(i)

Where;

I₀ = reference intensity

Given from the question;

β = sound level = 30dB

Substitute this value into equation (i) as follows;

30 = 10 log (I / I₀)

Divide both sides by 3;

3 = log (I / I₀)

Take antilog of both sides;

10^(3) = (I / I₀)

1000 = I / I₀

Solve for I;

I = 1000I₀

Therefore the intensity of the sound is 1000 times the standard reference level for intensities (I₀)
