Answer:

x = 3

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the altitude from B to AC intersect at point D.  Then BD is a height of the triangle with base AC

ΔABD is a 30-60-90 triangle since m∠A = 30

Therefore, AB = 2(BD)  or BD = AB/2 = (x+3)/2

Area of the triangle = bh/2 = AC(BD)/2 = 4x(x + 3)/(2)(2)

= x(x + 3) = 18

x^{2} + 3x = 18

x^{2} + 3x - 18 = 0

(x + 6)(x - 3) = 0

x = -6  or x = 3

x cannot equal -6, so x = 3

Rewrite the expression without using grouping symbols.
Arte-miy333 [17]

Answer:

12x -12*17

Step-by-step explanation:

12(x – 17)

We can distribute the 12 to both terms inside the parentheses

12*x - 12*17

12x -12*17

What values of c makes the polynomial below a perfect square?
sweet [91]
To find the perfect square of an equation, you just take your "middle" term (in this case, 16), divide it by 2, then square it.

16/2 = 8
8^2 = 64

your perfect square is 64. you can check it really quick by trying to factor x^2 + 16x + 64 and seeing that it breaks down perfectly into (x + 8)(x + 8), which can be written as (x + 8)^2, showing that you have a binomial with a perfect square!!

Which equation can be used to find the surface area of the sphere? A sphere with a diameter of 16 inches.
Sveta_85 [38]
The equation used to find the surface area of a sphere is 4 x pi x r^2. The surface area of the sphere with a diameter of 16 inches would be
4 x 3.14 x 8^2 = 803.84. Therefore, the surface area of a sphere with a diameter of 16 inches would be 804 square inches. (rounded the decimal)
