Some similarities include: They both were explorers who discovered new teritories.

Some differences are: Champlain was a French explorer and navigator but Magellan was Portuguese. Magellan was the first to circumnavigate the globe even though he died on an island before completing the journey (his crew survived and finished the trip). Champlain found Canada and founded Quebec.
