Twelve hundred metric tons of solid waste is how many pounds? Using dimensional analysis
klemol [59]

Answer:

1200 metric tons = 2645547 pounds

Explanation:

We need to find twelve hundred metric tons of solid waste is how many pounds.

For this, we must know the conversion from metric tons to pounds.

1 metric tons = 2204.62 pounds

To convert 1200 metric tons, multiply 2204.62 by 1200 as follows :

1200 metric tons = 2204.62 × 1200 pounds

= 2645547 pounds

Hence, twelve hundred metric tons of solid waste is equal to 2645547 pounds.

Of the reactions listed below, which one is NOT a combination reaction? A) C + O2 => CO2 B) 2Mg + O2 => 2MgO C) 2N2 + 3H =
Alex_Xolod [135]

Answer:

E

Explanation:

A combination reaction is one in which two elements or two compounds react to give a new single compound

Hence, what we are expecting on the reactant side is only a single product and not a mixture of products

For the first reaction, we had two elements giving a single product

For the second reaction, we had same

For the third, we had same

For the fourth, we had two compounds reacting to give a singe new product

While in the last, we had two different products which means it does not follow the definition of a combination reaction and that makes it our answer

Which of the following represents a pair of isotopes? Select one: a. 146C, 147N b. 11H, 21H c. 136C, 147N d. O2, O3 e. 3216S, 32
skad [1K]

Answer:

B

Explanation:

Isotopy is a phenomenon in which there exists two or more kind of atoms of the same element. These atoms have the same number of protons but different mass numbers. That is, they have the same atomic number but differ only by the number of neutrons in the nucleus of the atom. Now, let us apply this information to the options individually:

A. Is wrong, they are not the same element

B. Is correct. they both belong to the same element hydrogen. Infact, they are named protium and deuterium respectively

C is wrong they are not same element

D is wrong They are not elements at all

E. Is wrong, one is an element, the other is a molecule
