Here
Length = x+3
Breadth = x
We know
Perimeter of reatangle = 2(l+b)
Or 34 = 2( x+3+x)
Or 17 = 2x+3
Or 14 =2x
Or x= 7

Therefore
Length = 10 and breadth = 7 cm
Thank you

Solve the system of equations by graphing: 2x + 3y = 2 6x + 18y = 9
cluponka [151]
The answer is  A: x=1/2 , y= 1/3

Solve the following system:
{2 x + 3 y = 2 | (equation 1)
{6 x + 18 y = 9 | (equation 2)

Swap equation 1 with equation 2:
{6 x + 18 y = 9 | (equation 1)
{2 x + 3 y = 2 | (equation 2)

Subtract 1/3 × (equation 1) from equation 2:
{6 x + 18 y = 9 | (equation 1)
{0 x - 3 y = -1 | (equation 2)

Divide equation 1 by 3:
{2 x + 6 y = 3 | (equation 1)
{0 x - 3 y = -1 | (equation 2)

Multiply equation 2 by -1:
{2 x + 6 y = 3 | (equation 1)
{0 x+3 y = 1 | (equation 2)

Divide equation 2 by 3:
{2 x + 6 y = 3 | (equation 1)
{0 x+y = 1/3 | (equation 2)

Subtract 6 × (equation 2) from equation 1:
{2 x+0 y = 1 | (equation 1)
v0 x+y = 1/3 | (equation 2)

Divide equation 1 by 2:
{x+0 y = 1/2 | (equation 1)
v0 x+y = 1/3 | (equation 2)

Collect results:
Answer:  {x = 1/2, y = 1/3

e Ann, Claire, and Josh collect stickers. One week, Ann collects 7 more stickers than Josh. Josh collects twice as many stickers
lisabon 2012 [21]

Answer: Ann = 67 Josh = 60 Claire = 30

Step-by-step explanation: You get the equation 5x+7 = 157. You get the equation because for example, Claire = x then josh = 2x and Ann = 2x + 7. You do all the math and boom! You get the answer :)

Allison is working two summer jobs, making $12 per hour lifeguarding and $8 per hour washing cars. Last week Allison worked 3 mo
timama [110]

Answer:

Allison worked 6 hours lifeguarding and 3 hours washing cars.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let

Number of hours Allison worked lifeguarding last week = x

Number of hours Allison worked washing cars last week = y

1. Last week Allison worked 3 more hours lifeguarding than hours washing cars hours, then

x-y=3

<u>Lifeguarding:</u>

$12 per hour

$12x in x hours.

<u>Washing cars:</u>

$8 pere hour

$8y in y hours.

2. Allison earned a total of $96, hence

12x+8y=96

You get the system of two equations:

\left\{\begin{array}{l}x-y=3\\ \\12x+8y=96\end{array}\right.

Plot the graphs of these two equations (see attached diagram). These line intersect at point (6,3), so Allison worked 6 hours lifeguarding and 3 hours washing cars.
