The potential energy of a particle as a function of position will be given as U(x) = A x2 + B x + C, where U will be in joules w
satela [25.4K]

Answer:

F = - 2 A x - B

Explanation:

The force and potential energy are related by the expression

      F = - dU / dx i ^ -dU / dy j ^ - dU / dz k ^

Where i ^, j ^, k ^ are the unit vectors on the x and z axis

The potential they give us is

     U (x) = A x² + B x + C

Let's calculate the derivatives

    dU / dx = A 2x + B + 0

The other derivatives are zero because the potential does not depend on these variables.

Let's calculate the strength

      F = - 2 A x - B

Why does the investigator in an expirement change only one variable
jenyasd209 [6]
To see what causes a change in experiment. If they kept everything the same what would be the point of experiment? One thing has to be different to test and get a result ! They have to see how that one variable changes the experiment. If they change so many things then the experiment will be messed up. They have to focus on that one variable during experiment to get the proper result. Hope this helps you. Think about it if you want to know how antibiotic effects bodies. You choose two people and you give antibiotic to one. And you don't give any other drug to the people you are testing. Because you truly want to know the effect of antibiotic alone.

To determine athletes body fat, there are weighed first in air and then again while they are completely underwater. It is found
rodikova [14]

Answer:

1065 Kgm-3

Explanation:

We can determine the relative density of the athlete from the formula;

Relative density of athlete = weight of athlete in air/upthrust on athlete

Since weight of athlete in air= 690 N

Weight of athlete in water = 42 N

Upthrust on athlete= weight in air - weight in water

Upthrust on athlete= 690 N - 42 N = 648 N

Relative density of athlete= 690 N / 648 N

Relative density of athlete= 1.065

Therefore, average density of the athlete= relative density × density of water = 1.065 × 1000 Kgm-3 = 1065 Kgm-3

When the northern hemisphere is tilted toward the sun that part of the earth is closer to the sun and thus hotter? True or false
Ratling [72]

False

Explanation:

Most of us have a belief that Earth is very close to the sun in summer season and so it is hotter. Also, since Earth is far away from the sun in winter season, it is colder. Though this idea looks true, it is incorrect.

The orbit of the Earth isn't a perfect circle. It is quite tilted. During some months of the year, Earth is very close to the sun than at other times. We have winter when the Earth is very close to the sun and summer when it is far away in the Northern Hemisphere. So when we compare the distance of the Sun from the Earth, this change in Earth's distance throughout the year does not affect our weather much.
