We can usually get a couple of facts for these that let us rule out answers without working out all the details.

The green and red areas are below a CUP parabola, opening up.  CUP stands for concave up positive, and tells us there's a positive coefficient on x².  Unfortunately all the choices have a positive 1 coefficient, no help here.

Since the areas are below they're going to be y ≤ x² + other stuff.  That rules out B and C.

The red and blue parts are below the line, and the line has a positive slope.  So that's y ≤ mx + b where m>0 is the positive slope.  That rules out D with the negative slope.

Trevor tutors French for $15 and hour and scoops ice cream for $10 an hour. He is going to work 15 hours this week. How many hou
VladimirAG [237]
Total number of hours = 15
Let the hours spent tutoring french be x.
Therefore hours spent on scooping ice cream = (15 - x)
Amount:    Tutoring french is $15 an hour, total for x hours = 15x
For scooping ice cream  it is $10 an hour   10*(15 - x) = 150 - 10x
To make more than $180
15x  + (150 - 10x)  > 180
15x + 150 - 10x > 180
15x - 10x > 180 - 150
5x > 30
x > 30/5

The second option: “Keep track of the number of heads flipped in 50 flips. These represent the number of females born today.”

One flip represents one baby born, and one head represents a female birth, so the total number of heads out of 50 flips simulates finding the ratio of females in a sample of 50 births.
